it really isnt. my parents are and they provide alot for me,

but if i were to start on payments on this car it will effect me, and asking for advice on here is really the only way i can get a good base on my decision if it makes any sense.

im definatly saving the money for now and if i find a lotus cheaper (which im sure they will) . and its true i dont wanna risk it yet im going to wait a few months like i said before i make the decision.

the more people help me going in the right direction, the better my chances are of making a good decision.

maybe even meeting halfway on a used lower model would be a good way to go.

What you could do is save up and buy the Lotus with cash. Treat it as a toy. It isnt a necessity for you, so if you have the money, then get it, if you don't, forget about it.

buy a house or stick it in a high cd account, if you really want to just go "VROOM" throw more than a few grand into your 8 (FI) and call it a day.

i'm not in the same situation as you, having 3 jobs, but i too know what its like to want to just buy things when you have some extra money. unfortunatel i only have one job, and its enough to make the payments on my 8. sometimes its not fun having to make payments on the car, IMO its nice to have some money saved for sure. perhaps as another member said, just save up what you can, and down the road perhaps just pay for it all in cash...no payments, and you have your elise...

just my opinion...i know what its like being a working teen..haha, car paymets arent fun...but hey, if you can reallly afford to get it, then by all means...

No offense meant, but are you seriously going to park your $50,000 Lotus in the lot at your paintball job.........what I mean is, you probably still have the nicest car with your 8 of all the other paintballers. Maybe your parents are very nice to you and you have absolutely no expenses to pay for (food, rent, etc.) but at some point you'll want to move out and at least get an apartment - maybe take a girl out to eat on occasion, buy christmas presents, go on vacation. I was once young and impulsive too, but no $1,500 a month income is enough to pay for a Lotus and insurance and have enough left over for much else, let alone be self sufficient. The girls may like your Lotus, but it won't be long until coming back to mom and dad's place is a real turn off no matter what you bring them home in.

The Lotus is badass though - it's okay to be tempted.

My parents gave me some advice which now I look back and am grateful for. They said I can buy any car I want with my money, as long as I pay it in cash. As a 19 year old... it would be a shitty way to start out my adult life with a bad credit history if for whatever reason I couldn't make a payment on my car. So I found a used 8 with lowish mileage that I could buy outright... and never looked back. This worked for me but every person is different. I feel like my life is on track: No car loan, putting $$ away in mutual funds, going to a good college, blah blah

OP I'm not trying to hijack I'm just saying, even if you CAN afford the lotus, is it really the RIGHT thing for you at this stage in your life? Can you wait a few years to get your **** together? Graduate college, get a career, a steady income, possibly a house... and then splurge on your fantasy car...

OK I'm done...

i would save my money and not spend it on buying a car at this kind of time. i would probably just mod my car once in a while to get a different feel out of it. even if you have 3 jobs and can afford an exige, who knows what will happen a few months down the line. it is already difficult enough to find a job these days and a job arent very stable IMO. dont get me wrong though because this is how i would see it.

What is your average pay per hour, if you don't mind me asking. I'm a full-ish time worker (~35 hours/week, sometimes as low as 32, at times as high as 40) as well as a full time University student. I'm an assistant manager under the Aramark corporation and have been approached to become a salaried location manager (Holy ****, I'm only 19...) however school is (or should be) my primary focus so that hit a dead end.

Save up cash and buy something used, in full. You will regret getting stuck with payments, especially with this economy. You may end up owing more on the car than its worth in even the used market...

the last thing you want at age 18 is a hefty car payment. what if you lose a job?... you're fucked.

You are not ready to do this, you are only 18.

Be smart and learn from everyone elses mistakes.

Unless your parents can help you when you run into trouble.

Please do a reality check, its a great car, but very impractical and will be a waste of your money at this time in your life.

Believe me, we are looking out for you.

dont throw away good hard earned money, esp at 18. If i went out and bought everything i wanted everytime i had an urge id have nothing. You have a nice car which i think is still fairly new (to you atleast)...enjoy it atleast untill you are done with school before you start looking at new cars. You never know what life brings your way, you can get fired, you can get sick or injured (god forbid), you may have a baby...enjoy life but live within your means. $1500 dollars is not alot, especially now a days with the price of a gallon of milk at damn near 5 bux.

take it from someone who had 2 jobs and was a full time student..you may be able to do 3 for a while but not too long...eventually you will hit a breaking point emotionally and physically. you'll have a sweet car you wont have time to drive, and no time for friends and girls and so on.

and like said before,, the lotus is a def chick magnet, but sneaking a girl into your parents house is sooooooooo 10th grade...save up for a place of your own so you can live have a lil more freedom. Im not tryin to tell you what to do, im just giving life advice from what ive seen personally and with friends i know. im only 26 so i dont want you to feel like its coming from someone out of your generation or somethin... as much as i want to go out and grab the 65 inch LCD tv i saw at best buy this weekend, i realize my 42 inch is doing just fine lol

haha a grand and a half.

Dude the economy is in the ******* because of retards like you who think they can afford things they can't. You could pay for it, not afford it. I don't know how much an Exige, is but you should spend at the most 10% of your income on a car. Anymore than that and you're being foolish.

I personally think your car has the finesse and the ability to get to the level of the Exige. Just FI your car do suspension mods and call it. Get something else sweet that can serve a different purpose for you.
