Mark Webber - 5th - Everyone knew ahead of the race that tyre strategy was going to play a big part, but Webber lost out more than most. He cooked his tyres early in his first stint, forcing him to pit and adopt a three-stop strategy. The move to hard tyres in the second stint was the biggest mistake and saw his lap times suffer compared to the rest of the field on softs. The only upside was a set of softs for the final stint, but he ran wide getting them up to temperature and then could not take advantage of the extra grip in his fight against Alonso. Fifth is still his best finish at his home race in 10 attempts
Analysis of Webbers drive.
http://en.espnf1.com/australia/motor...ory/44330.html

Also keep in mind that for qualifiers and race you have 3x soft and 3x hard. Since Webber did a 3 stop he used 4 sets of tires. First stint soft. Second hard. Third soft (I think). Fourth soft. So you see ASH, there is no conspiracy going on against Webber.

Heck the conspiracy is against Marcus Ericsson (http://www.marcusericssonracing.com/) who is not even entered in F1, despite him being the best driver in the world.

But the world is against Sweden, it has always been that way

That's what you get for letting Petter Solberg and Marcus Gronholm loose on the world stage.

He retired with a water leak on lap 19 in 19th place.
Better luck next time.

Kimi Raikkonen Going To NASCAR

Former F1 star and current WRC racer Kimi Raikkonen is heading to NASCAR according to some recent Twitter activity. "'I'm really looking forward to get there to familiarize myself to the world of Nascar'' he reportedly said.

Oh, great, this will only add some legitimacy to NASCAR. Just as S. Speed did his best to ruin it.

Indeed. As I said, kudos to Newey and RBR's carbon fiber layering process. They're making average drivers look like superstars. Vettel was 17km/h faster than Hamilton through turn 5. That's not talent, that's superior hardware.

Ha ha ha!

Alfy, you are a trip.

By the way, if McLaren pass RB in handling this year or even equal them, then the battle will get interesting. Lotus Renault look like they will spice things up quite a bit as well. We'll see if Petrov can maintain speed and composure throughout the season.

Will an angered Webber bring his A game? We know he can.

Paul.

Paul stop posting here and reply to the email i sent you this morning :p
Alfy... ferrari doesn't change the rules, they just have their own rulebook. It has fancy pop up images too to show domenicali how to cope with the parts

Superior hardware or not don't touch vettel please! He won in the wet on a toro rosso... Superior handling my *** there! One problem he may have is having demonstrated all he could demonstrate too soon.

They took a gamble on car setup and it paid off. Same as Fisichella in a Force India and Button in a Honda at Spa.

It's not about the gamble, the force india and the BAR were both very fast in spa too
Vettel is an outstanding driver that, like schumacher, has the luck of having a perfect car.
Schumacher also lacked real opponents during most of his career though

To me, Vettel is a slightly above average driver wrapped in vastly superior hardware. When he was at STR, he was no better than his mid-field brethren. Schumacher also had the benefit of having the tyres developed to his taste! That's an advantage no one else was afforded.

BTW, I'm ecstatic that the season has finally begun and the trash-talking can resume! I missed it dearly.

I feel horrible for Massa. He's clearly a broken man; a shadow of his 2008 self. El Banco can now claim mission accomplished.

I missed arguing as well!
However you have to admit that being "slightly above average" during these years means kicking other 5 world champion's butts... not just some finnish world champion ā la hakkinen!
