Silverstone secures British GP

The historic circuit of Silverstone has secured the British Grand Prix from 2010 after long negotiations with Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone. Silverstone was set to lose the race as Mr. E signed a 17-year deal with Donington Park, but the track failed to raise the funds to carry out a redevelopment project.

British Racing Drivers' Club President Damon Hill said: "The title of Silverstone as home of motorsport has come true. It is a place for all motorsport. Everyone in the BRDC loves motorsport and we are looking forward to the MotoGP as well as the British Grand Prix.

"It is not easy to enter into a contract of this magnitude and you have to take on a lot of responsibility, but the BRDC wanted this relationship to continue.

"Everyone was well aware that the British GP is not just a sporting event, but it is dynamo of the industry in this country. Losing it would have been damaging and perhaps there would have been no coming back."

Hamilton relieved British Grand Prix is saved

On Monday morning the British Racing Drivers' Club revealed that the British Grand Prix at Silverstone has been saved for the upcoming 17 years. Former British Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton was happy to hear the 'fantastic news'.

"Firstly, it's fantastic news that the British Grand Prix will stay on the calendar for 2010," said Hamilton. "Secondly, it's great that the race will be at Silverstone. The place has an atmosphere that money can't buy, and I have some fantastic memories of the track - winning both races in GP2 in 2006, getting an incredibly emotional and satisfying pole in '07 and winning in the wet in my championship year.

"Most importantly, those achievements have all been underlined by the reaction and support of the Silverstone crowd, which has always been fantastic. British fans are the greatest Formula 1 supporters in the world - and this must be the best Christmas present they could ever ask for.

"I can't wait to come home to the Santander British Grand Prix next year: both Jenson and I will be flying the flag for Britain and doing our best to win the race."

Rumor has it that Lewis Hamiltons shoes never touch the ground.

MONACO (AP) -All 13 Formula One teams will unveil their 2010 cars in a joint launch next month in Valencia, Spain.

Mercedes GP chief executive Nick Fry said Thursday the launch will be "a proper event."

The date for the launch has not yet been decided, but is set to take place just before the first testing session of the season at the Cheste Circuit in Valencia.

I can really care less if Michael comes back . I really didnt care for him , i know he is like suppose to be Jesus of F1. But he is a false prophet, we know who the real jesus is (hamilton).

i prefered Mika Häkkinen over the shoe.

http://www.worldcarfans.com/10912112...or-schu-return

any how TIME FOR SOME NEWSSSSS!!!!!!!

Mercedes is reportedly proposing to pay Michael Schumacher 7 million euros if he agrees to return to F1 as Nico Rosberg's teammate in 2010.

Bild newspaper said the offer, which is the same one offered to Jenson Button prior to the new world champion's switch to McLaren, will be made by the German marque's competition boss Norbert Haug.

Schumacher, 40, made much more money at Ferrari until 2006, and still makes 5m a year as an advisor to the Italian team, but Bild said Mercedes cannot afford to offer the German any more.

Niki Lauda told the newspaper he is certain "money will not play a role" in Schumacher's decision about whether to re-launch his 16-year F1 career.

Mercedes team chief executive Nick Fry said at the Motor Sport Business Forum in Monaco on Thursday that an announcement about Rosberg's teammate is not likely before Christmas.

"We might say something before Christmas, but it's more likely to be the beginning of January," he is quoted as saying by the Times.

FIA proposes new points system

During yesterday's F1 commission meeting, the first since Jean Todt was voted FIA president, the members agreed to the name change request that the Brawn team filed. Along with that, it presented a completely new points system.

The FIA today hosted the first meeting of the F1 Commission in its new structure since the signing of the 2009 Concorde Agreement. Chaired by Commission President Bernie Ecclestone and with FIA President Jean Todt in attendance, the F1 Commission is made up of key championship stakeholders from F1 teams, promoters, suppliers and sponsors.

The F1 Commission agreed that the Brawn team will be allowed to change its chassis name from Brawn to Mercedes. The team will continue to receive payments based on its historical performance. This has been granted on a one-off exceptional basis due to Mercedes-Benz’s long-term involvement and commitment to Formula One.

The F1 Commission also proposed a number of amendments to the sporting and technical regulations, which will be put to the FIA World Motor Sport Council for final approval tomorrow morning. They include:

- Due to the expanded grid of 13 teams, a new points system for the 2010 season:

1st: 25 points
2nd: 20 points
3rd: 15 points
4th: 10 points
5th: 8 points
6th: 6 points
7th: 5 points
8th: 3 points
9th: 2 points
10th: 1 point

- A strong mandate has been given to the Sporting Working Group, a sub-committee of the F1 Commission made up of the FIA and F1 teams, to develop detailed proposals to improve the show. These will take effect from the 2010 championship.

- The FIA and FOM will further collaborate to enhance the communication and promotion of the championship to the media and its worldwide fanbase.

The next meeting of the Formula One Commission will be held on 10 March in Bahrain.

sounds like things ought to be interesting next year. sad to see Toyota leave, but i'll get over it. the only thing that kind of bothers me is Alonso at Ferrari. he's a great driver, no question, but there's too much drama surrounding him and i'd hate to see my team get caught in something like the Renault fiasco.

You know this might be wishful thinking... but I really do believe Schumi will drive the other Mercedes car.

And Mercedes vs McLaren vs Ferrari with top drivers in all the cars. Well the latino boys over in the red cars might be a bit too emotional to always drive properly but I predict very exciting races never the less.

German press say Schumacher agrees Mercedes deal

With the exception of an actual signature on the dotted line, Michael Schumacher has reportedly agreed to return to F1 with Mercedes in 2010.

The news magazine Focus as well as the major German daily Bild revealed on Saturday that the 40-year-old, who retired as a Ferrari race driver in 2006, will be Nico Rosberg's teammate.

Bild said a one-year deal has been agreed verbally, and talks about withdrawing from his new consulting contract with Ferrari have been positive.

Focus, whose report was made available ahead of publication on Monday, said whether Schumacher actually signs the contract also depends on the go-ahead of doctors.

A source told Bild: "The signature is just a formality. Schumacher feels fit and healthy. The latest (medical) tests were entirely positive.

"He can't wait for the return and working with Ross Brawn again."

An announcement could be made as early as next week, and Focus said the deal is for 3.5m euros -- about a tenth of Schumacher's retainer when he hung up his helmet with Ferrari.

A longer-term objective is for the German to be an ambassador for the Mercedes brand, the magazine added.

The seven time world champion's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm told DPA news agency she did not want to comment, and his manager Willi Weber told SID that he was "as in the dark as the press".

"I don't know anything about it," Weber added. "I have not spoken with Mercedes, nor do I have any meetings with them."

A previous article says that, for Michael, it isn't about the money. He has that.

Ahhh, what is this... the worst silly season ever or what?!

I so hope for Schumi's return. He has the skill to still be competetive, which he has shown in kart-racing, race of champions etc.

And the lineups for this year is awesome in the big teams. I really look forward to seeing Button and Hamilton hammer out the internal pecking order in McLaren. And Massa+Alsonso in Ferrari. It will be good for chuckles and dramatic headlines if nothing else. And Schumi and Rosberg driving for Mercedes. I think Rosberg is one of the most under-valued drivers out there. The way he has handled that inferior Williams car, well he should be up among the big names in the fast cars

Lotus on Monday announced that 2009 formula one drivers Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen will race for the new Malaysian-owned team next season.

Kuala Lumpur-born Fairuz Fauzy was named as the reserve driver at a press conference at the parliament building involving the Malaysian sports minister.

Italian veteran Trulli's involvement had been strongly speculated, but the likelihood of a deal with Kovalainen only became clear with a recent report in Turun Sanomat.

The Finnish newspaper said Trulli and 28-year-old Kovalainen, who have each won a single career grand prix, will both be paid.

With his manager Flavio Briatore banned from any involvement in F1, 2009 McLaren driver Kovalainen's deal was reportedly informally handled by Aces Management, headed by Didier Coton.

"Experience is the most important thing for us, because it's a value you can't buy," said Lotus team boss Tony Fernandes, according to 422race.com.

Ferrari wouldn't hold Schumacher to his multi year contract

As Chairman for Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo has shared his companies point of view regarding the rumoured return to racing by Michael Schumacher in 2010 via the Mercedes GP squad. When asked by 'Reuters' if Ferrari would hold Schumacher to his multi year consultancy contract di Montezemolo responded, "No, it's not binding."

"It's clear that, if he decides to take another road, our agreement will no longer be valid - that is logical. You can't work with a competitor and with us at the same time," said di Montezemolo.

Adding, "I still haven't spoken to him about it. He is only a dear friend, not a team member. He is a consultant for our road cars."

Do you think Ferrari doesn't think he is a threat anymore?

Being a Hamilton fan has very great benefits, but please get a life.

now what i think he meant was , But please live your life.

Which i can see the messiah saying, because he is so caring . He also sent back my paper mache statue of him. i think he feels that i should have it, since i put in the all the hard to make it. See this is why i hamilton is the chosen one, he cares so much about his fans.
