I couldn't agree more!!! I realize the FIA has a role to play, but common...if everybody is complaining WORK IT OUT...rather than just say FU!! Too much imphasis is being placed on recruiting new teams. And I can totally see Ferrari, as well as a couple other teams, saying screw the contract and pay it off. It be worth it for them to pay it off, rather than muddle around with **** poor rules and uncompettitive (sp) teams. I'd be interested in what type of series the manufacturer's could put together.

I think Mosley is going to stick to his rules and not allow any of the FOTA teams to run next year. There are enough new teams +Toyota that have signed up by the deadline that he can field a good race.
The company that bought Brabham and March Eng have also submitted proposals by the deadline. That makes it about 8 new teams (16 cars) if Mosley does throw out the apps from the current teams.
June 12th is the next date to watch. This is when the chosen teams will be anounced by the FIA/Mosley.

so i really hope like you said, pay up the contract break and leave. would love to see new cars in the Proto series in lemans. i miss the nissan, toyota, mazda days.

^^^^ YUP!!!! Turkey is an excellent track. I believe it's the one with like a 4 apex turn and they guys run it flat out. I've said before, the Tilke designed tracks seem a bit neutured to me in some respects, but I do respect the man for turns like that. Actually, now that I think about it, I think all of the Tilke tracks have something about them. Like in Malaysia that massive stratight, hair pin, then another massive straight...or the uniqueness of the China track (and excuse me if he wasn't involved in that one) but I like the idea of the "chang" influence in the design of the track. And from what I've read all of his tracks have the BEST facilities...which i'm sure is a plus when you're backing a semi up into a space the width of a Humvee.

Turkey is also in financial trouble. Last year there were only 40000 spectators for the race. This year, due to the world economy, there will be less. The track lays vacant 360 days a year.

DAMN...really?? That's such an awesome track...kind of sad to hear that. Too bad we don't live in Turkey.....can you imagine a track day there!!! Actually, I take that back..might be nice to vist, but I don't know if i'd want to live there

taht does suck. i like tracks with alot elevation. such turkey, suzuka, hungry, brazil and the belgian track

Corkscrew is awesome as well...
Agreed with lots of elevation, off camber turns, couple of straights and great view from all angles...
Can't forget Lemans Series running there a few years back... Those Audis were just awesome.

OHHHHHH man, Spa is like my all time favorite...next to Monza and Monaco. Eu Ruge is like the pinnicle of corners...if you want to call it a corner..freaking fantastic. I remember when Villineuve first went to BAR and took that mixed matched "zipper car" through that thing flat and BAAAAM into the tires...I thought the guy wasn't going to make it...CRAZY

Then Laguna Seca will be GREAT for F1 if the series ever come back to the USA. I remember taking turn 6 flat out... holly cow, talk about having ***** to do that... lol
Corkscrew is awesome as well...

OHHH MAN Carlos...you ran at Laguna?? SWEET I've heard that when you approach the corkscrew your basically not even looking at the track, but rather queing off the trees and making sure you're lined up with them

Yes I have a few times. Indeed you don't even see the road down below you... You just "pray" you are coming down straight so then you can take the next corner 9 "off camber" through the middle or you will end up on the gravel...I saw so many cars dropping just one wheel off since they were going wide and that will be it... boom off you go...
I agree SPA must be breathtaking especially Eu Ruge... I remember even Ayrton Senna not being able to take it flat out...Montoya, on the other hand, used to take it flat out back in the days...
I will for sure miss the McLaren vs Ferrari days if they don't agree to run next year...

Eau rouge has been altered slightly, Pololo. Back in Senna's days the configuration was a bit different (check, I think it was Derek Warwick's massive crash), and there's runoff area now whereas the walls were much closer and the radius was a bit tighter, too.

in other news, while hamilton and masa gained 3 spots ( Hamitlon from 16 and masa from 9th,) other drivers supposely good drivers such as alonso and kimi lost spots. so lets give them a round of applause for crappy driving

F1's reigning world champion has joined other drivers and eight current formula one teams in threatening to quit the FIA world championship at the end of the season.
Outspoken 2005 and 2006 drivers' title winner Fernando Alonso has been widely quoted as saying he would "prefer to race in any other category" if Max Mosley's budget cap is imposed in 2010.
His comments followed a meeting between the drivers of the FOTA-affiliated teams and officials of the alliance prior to Sunday's Turkish grand prix.
Afterwards, Toyota's Jarno Trulli was nominated the drivers' spokesman on the issue, and experienced competitors including Nick Heidfeld, Mark Webber and Felipe Massa similarly fully backed the FOTA stance.
"All the FOTA drivers are with FOTA in the future," said Red Bull's Webber.
Ferrari's Massa added: "If F1 is not possible because it is not F1 any more, then we will go to another championship."
2008 champion Lewis Hamilton is usually guarded when it comes to political matters, but on Monday he said he would not split with his FOTA member team McLaren-Mercedes, even if a breakaway championship is established.
"I am under contract at my team and will go wherever they go. That's the way it is. That applies for all drivers," the Briton told Deutsche Presse Agentur in Stuttgart

See???? You can see here who REALLY HAS THE GUTS to say it the way it is... Alonso, Trulli, Massa, Webber... most of the drivers feel this way and outspoken about this issue...
