They still won after all the rule changes, that is good news.
With the new redline limit, they can tune the engine to produce max power earlier, or if they couldn't they could still tune it for more average power.
But even with all that, I bet the engine is weaker than before as the 3-rotor really needs rev to build power.

Well I got my reply from Grand-Am today and it was just as I thought it would be.

Hello Robert,
Thank you for your passionate support of Grand Am, and particularly Rolex GT. Restrictions to maintain competitive balance are always difficult, and rarely meet with approval. Our process is to enact changes that counteract the competitive advantage as directly as possible with minimal “side effects”, that are inexpensive to implement in the short term, and that minimize the potential costs for teams in the longer term. I believe this change met those criteria, and I don’t expect a reversal any time soon.
All the best

Bob, you must have been really nice to them.
I have yet to get a response from the rules committee.
I also bitched about the crash that Jeff had in #69 back at the Brumos race...

I don't get nasty with them or even show anger.
I address them respectfully, but in a suggestive, matter-of-fact tone.
I have been going to and following these races since I was a kid and point that out occasionally to them while making a point or observation. Back then, the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hour Sebring races were "Gentlemen's Races".
Actually Bob, I think that it's a big thing that they responded (in a very positive way), because that means that they do listen and take time out to "holla back".
Kudos to them for responding, at the least...Mike
Ya, i guess you're right on that. It's the last sentence that's hard to swallow.

The New Jersey race is less than 2 weeks away! Who's going? I haven't seen anything about a Mazda corral from Marlon so not sure if the Cleveland gang is going.

Im goin,,
When you look at the stats of the 3 rotor on SpeedSources breakdown of stats it seems that the Rolex rules commitee limited the RPMS enough not to effect thier peak HP numbers so I think for next season Speedsource needs to adjust thier power and so the peak HP is as high as possible near 8900 rpms where the fuel cut off used to be this way they could possible only be handed wieght penalties.

Is Sunday's race @ Infineon just the DPs? I don't see anything for the GT teams.

Actually your article came from Speedsource though.
I got the news from a Grand-Am newsletter.
Got a reply back from Jack, the team Principal. Real nice guy.
Don't forget to send them a welcome note...
