Ummm...I want one and I want it now! Just when I thought I was going to buy a used Z this comes out. I guess I'll have to wait a little bit longer. But where does it say 370Z?

Engine displacement being 3.7 litres most likely its going to be called a 370 Z.

Nissan is supposed to be shortening the chassis; this, of course is being done to reduce the weight. Thus, we have a 350 HP car that will probably weigh the same as the current car or less. Mazda DOES have need to be concerned. However, I am sure Mazda has anticipated this to a certain extent and has a tactical response up their sleeve (I hope, because I just may go for this new Z vs. a GTR or the next RX).

these "rice burners" are like the cars from the muscle car era. light weight+high power but with low emissions and smaller engines ... isnt technology great.

It's a Cavalier
Repost or not, new 350Z or 370Z, stock vs stock I'll still kick its *** in acceleration w/ my 3720lb pig
What's great is now my car's not that heavy by G37 standards... that thing is up to ~3650lbs
I'm not sure what the 370Z will weigh, but I bet it'll be over 3500lbs
More horsepower, but more chunky! You guys should eat that up with how much you hate heavy sports cars. Don't forget the new V8 powered M3. Anybody see a trend?

The new M3 is supposed to be only 50 to 80 pounds more than the outgoing M3.

So much for the trend...

From what Car and Driver says this car may not be the next 350 or 370Z. They say it is smaller than the current Z, and could be a upcoming 300Z, 250Z, or Urge concept. http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...tor-page2.html

Conjecture at this point with the M3, I guess. Current E46 is 3415lbs... I'll bet the new M3 is closer to 3600lbs. than it is to 3500lbs but we'll see when the official tests start coming in.
My point is that the M3 is already fairly heavy... I do still think there is an overall trend toward somewhat heavier "GT" type sports/touring cars. The Evo X could be interpretted as another example.

Well, I agree with you somewhat, but you have to give BMW their props. The V8 thats in the new M3 weighs less than the inline 6 in the outgoing M3. The major increase in weight is mostly due to the platform being generally heavier. I'm more surpised about how much of a porker the new Evo is.
Nissan can put as much HP as they want in that car, they still need to convince me they can design good suspension geomerty and handling characteristics. I have a friend who races in SCCA ITA. He had an RX-8 that he sold for a Miata, then the Miata got totalled so he got a Z on a good deal. He took it to the track for the first time, hated it so much he sold it for a Ducati and an MS3. He said the car understeered worse than anything he'd ever driver + other issues (brake pad knockback, uneven tire wear, etc). Add to that the Z has one of the most expensive aftermarkets around save Porsche and other exotics, I'll pass.

Dude, first this was a thread on the upcoming Z. Naturally, being an Rx8 forum, ppl will want to compare their pride against its competition.
NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR GTO. Its like comparing against a NEON SRT4 .. 'cept your ride looks like a frickin bloated cavalier!
NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR GTO (did i say that already?) You know, I can respect a car that has a lot of HP, but heck I'd take an underpowered rx-8 over that ugly thing you drive any day!
