...the number of vehicles Nissan plans to recall in Japan represents the country's second largest recall after the 1.04 million vehicles Nissan recalled in May 1996.

Nissan's way and Mazda's way
The recall may embarass Nissan, but when it's done owners get a car that works as it should. That's really what I want -- and I'm talking about the never-acknowledged mileage shortfall as well as the power. Sure, Mazda's free service and $500 are nice, but fixing what's wrong would be better. I still dream that Mazda will do that, too, but I'm not counting on it.
