Which AWD cars have you driven? I would wager that the Skyline..err I mean the GT-R's drivetrain will be a unique experience even for an experienced AWD purist. It's RWD biased, meaning torque is applied to the front wheels only when a loss of traction is sensed at the back wheels. Or at least that was the beauty of Nissan's old ATTESA setup. I think it's the same one that's on my Infiniti FX35. I haven't been able to give it the 400whp+ test yet though.

 

All wheel drive cars driven (recently): 2006 Audi S4, Mitsubishi Evolution (don't know the year), Subaru WRX STi, 2006 or 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S... that's it about in the past year or so. Each I've driven for more than 10-20 minutes at a time, enough to get a true feel and some initial driving impressions. The great thing about all wheel drive is the amount of traction you get in daily driving and in less than perfect conditions. I like a car though where if I'm starting to under steer, I like to be able to power over steer a little bit out of a turn. Not like a power slide, but enough to return the car to a neutral tendency. You can't really do this with an all wheel drive car, unless you kick the rear end out by pulling up the parking brake.

AWD I guess just might be something I'm not entirely used to though. I'd be willing to give it a shot again for the Nissan GT-R, and the Carrera 4S was one hell of a daily driver. Not knocking it, just different strokes for different folks.

I'm leaning towards the GT-R by the time it hits the states. The new M3 makes me think, but I dunno.

It's a waiting game, and i have lots of saving to do

 

I doubt it will have the modability of the RB26DETT Skylines, since we're talking closed-deck iron block vs open deck aluminum block.

 

i really not to keen on the looks.. could have done better.
