Wow, incredible stories. What a snobby profession. My favorite part about it is that they have ZERO knowledge about the car...their knowledge lies in sales.

It's surprising to me that people find this strange enough to warrant making a post about it. I don't understand why people place so much emphasis on "respect" -- if you don't like how they run their business don't go to them.

Because respect is everything...

How would you like somebody to walk up to you and punch you in your face for no reason? You didn't ask for it, you didn't deserve to be punched in the face, but the person that does it, did it because he wanted to. Same thing when people go to a place of business to do business or get a service done , why do salesmen or women have to in a non literal way "punch you in your face" or in actual meaning be disrespectful for just cause? Its unacceptable....

IMO i give a place of business two strikes and that it, like the saying goes.... do me wrong once, shame on you, do me wrong twice, shame on me. There is NEVER a third with me! And I will take action with owner or manager of the establishment and complain wether he does something or not, my voice will be heard.

I never post responses to the things I read on this forum, but I thought I'd chime in on this one. Fortunately, mine is just a quick story about good experiences with dealerships.

First off, my local Nissan dealership... My g/f and I (more like I drag her along) like to drive around everyother w/e or so and look at cars on the local lots. One day I spotted the Nismo Z through in the showroom and decided to stop in and look at it. Immediately a salesperson approached me and began commenting on it, but rather than giving me the normal sales "spill" he spoke about it like a fellow car buff. (He was an older gent.) He had me climb into it to check out the interior and then handed me the keys so I could see how the instrument cluster and center gauges lit up. He had asked if I was interested in it, but I told him I was simply "window shopping" b/c I had recently purchased my 8. He then became very interested and asked if he could look at it. He told me how much he loved the looks of it and then asked if he could climb inside and check it out. Of course I let him, how often do you get a salesman that is interested in your car? I think I spent more time telling him about my 8 than he did describing the Z.

On a different trip, my g/f and I were in St. Albans, WV and stopped by the Mitsubishi lot to just look at the new Lancers. When we pulled in I spotted a nice black one, loaded, nav, paddle shifters, RF stereo, etc. She fell in love with it, and at first I did also (hey, they're nice looking rides). I told her I was not going to see about test-driving it because I figure a lot of young kids were probably hounding them about driving them. As the salesman approached he didn't even attempt to tell me anything about the car, he simply asked, "Ready to take it for a spin?" and had the smart key in his hand. I of course said yes and he only asked for my license. (Sadly, I did not like the ride of the car, the severe lack of power... not an EVO ... and the fact that the paddle shifters are fixed to the steering column.)

Anyway, just thought I'd toss in a few examples of good experiences with dealerships to lighten the mood.

I bought the RX-8 with no shoes at all. Yup, barefoot all the way. Good thing the salesman didn't judge me by my looks.

Yes! Nissan dealership= DICK! well when i was 16 with my 1990 white Mazda Miata 5spd,panasport rims, body kits, magnaflow exhaust, any ways i needed a new car, so my dad and i agreed to meet up at the Nissan dealership to look at the Z and pretty sure buy it. So we went in their some guy in his 20s asked if i wanted to test drive one, so i was like ok. so we hoped in cruised to the gas station filled up, and let me test drive it. it was fun, so we got back and some other salesmen came out to make a deal, so my dad talked to him filled some papers, and my dad was like ill come in tommrow with my wife so she can look at it and approve. So the guy was being pushy and telling my dad to buy it now. and my dad kept on telling him he cant do anything about it till tommrow, so some argument started and my dad ripped the papers and left. the guy was gonna call the cops. i was their saying WTF is going on so i hoped in my miata and drift out of their parking lot with my some what ricey loud exhaust hauling down the street, So when i got home me and my dad talked. So i was like dad i know your friends with the Genral manager at the mazda dealership can i get a RX8!!! he was like if the price is right then yes. so we went the next day to look at them. My dad was with my mom talking to the genral manager, so they asked me what color i wanted. I was like crystal white pearl!!! with a 6SPD!! later they made a deal behind my back and special ordered my RX8 from dallas texas... so couple says later i came home as usual and their it was! i yelled OMG!!! an 08 Mazda RX8!!! im so happy haha couple days later i drove to the Nissan dealership passed by and REVED my car to its rev limter to **** them off, then left BAHAHA

You equate not getting to test drive a car to getting punched in the face? I see...

No.... i didn't say that, when people disrespect you for no reason, its like getting punched in the face for no reason. If a dealership doesn't want to let me test drive a car that i am interested in, I just go to another dealership.

No sweat off my back....
