Next MX-5 to be SUB 2,000 lbs
I doubt there will be a rotary in the new mx-5, especially since their is still so much uncertainty what the 16x will go into.
I was actually thinking about getting rid of the 8 next year and getting into the new 3 for a couple of years, then going back to rotary when the 16x comes out.

That's for the heavier hardtop version... base model is about 2450lbs.
Still, in a car that small, losing 200 pounds would make a huge difference.
More importantly, it's good to see Mazda moving in the right direction, hopefully they will have the same goals in mind for the next RX car.
