the new SAE standards

i'm not exactly sure what this means so can someone explain? the camry SE 3.3L used to be 225hp but after the new standards its now 190hp. does this mean that it got slower or that they r testing hp differently now?

Same thing happened to Acura. My wife bought an 05 TL W/Nav about 2 months ago and its was stated at 270HP and 238 Torque(Click Here) but now with the new standards they have the 06's are rated at 258HP and 233 Torque(Click Here).

Anyone know how this is rated now? I've heard speculation of the HP now being much more accurate to the wheels by having to caculate accessories and other losses. Anyone know for sure?

I remember reading the Z06 gained 5 HP through the new testing procedures, that doesn't make much sense since all these other cars are getting the opposite treatment

American companies tend to under-rate power, while Japanese companies tend to over-rate. At least, before the new requirements.

Yea, but I'm still not sure why they do that. Most Japanese companies do that, but in our case... :p

I can remember a few years ago when all the fuss was out with the Cobra's over rating. I think it went on hiatus for a year and when it came back it was rated at 320 hp, but it still only had 305 hp. Then shortly after was the whole thing with the Miata being rated at 150 hp and getting bumped back to 142 hp.
