Your GTO/Monaro is Made by GMH In Australia, as is the Pontiac G8, that is General Motors HOLDEN, in my home state in the suburb of Elizabeth, South Australia.
The only thing AMERICAN in your GTO is your engine, which is made and assembled in the US sent to Australia, put in a body and sent back to you.

The only thing worth a damn that ever got exported from Australia is Arnold Schwarzenegger. The USA saved your country in WWII, so you better be thankful.
Australian GTO's with Chevy engines... Now I've heard it all.

Hey! I'm from Texas, I know what a Holden is! don't lump us all in with this guy.
I hope he is trying to be funny, last time I checked Arnold was from Austria not Australia. Don't worry you're only about 10,000 miles off. I can see how it could be confusing.
That is sarcasm.
Also Limey is a term for British sailors not Australians. Eat any good books lately?

OMG. So I'm running out to my GTO this morning... had to dodge a few arrows shot by the Indians that live in a teepee next door, and almost stepped in a cow patty. I was taking off my ten gallon hat to get in when I noticed this sticker on the inside of my car door.
I can't believe it. I've been taken. I bought a damn non-USA fake Pontiac GTO.
How could I have not researched for months about a car purchase? How could I have not known that my GTO had actually been in production since 2001 in Australia as the Holden Monaro? Or known about HSV racing? Or Australian based Pedders suspensions? Or that Monaros were exported under the Vauxhall moniker to the UK (you know, those folks who sail around need the vitamin C from limes)? Or enjoyed reading that article in Evo magazine about taking an HSV and blasting across the Australian Northern Territory at 160mph for hours on end? Jeez. It's almost like I should be a huge fan of Holden vehicles. Why, I would almost consider buying a G8 GXP with an LS3, just because I enjoyed owning my Monaro so much. Hell I might have done a full Monaro conversion just to get that stupid Pontiac crap off of my car.
But I digress... I guess I'll trade it in.
Oh, and I'll even leave you with a quote to jog the memory of those that didn't catch it... I know there were plenty who did.

Lloyd: That's a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?
Lady at bus stop: Austria.
Lloyd: Austria! Well, then. G'day mate! Let's put another shrimp on the barbie!
Lady at bus stop: Let's not.

I'm still Puzzled by Fords aparent lack of acknowledgement maybe is the word I wish to use, of Pontiac's success of using Holdens cars for cars in the states and abroad. The Falcon to my knowledge is a awsome RWD car with a V8 powerplant. I think I mentioned once that if Ford brought it over they should just label it the Crown Vic and be done with it. Dont touch the facia at all just slap the Ford badges on it and call it a day.

G8 Coupe/GTO a go?

Last month Holden celebrated its 60th anniversary with the unveiling of the Coupe60 concept car, a two door version of the VE Commodore sedan that many suspect will eventually spawn a successor to Australia’s Monaro Coupe. Holden has denied rumors of a new Monaro, as well as its Pontiac GTO cousin for that matter, but a number of reports claim the Coupe60 is actually based on a former Pontiac design and that officials are now considering building the car.
Most of the engineering work is complete because under the Coupe60’s svelte sheet metal is Chevrolet Camaro running gear. According to Edmunds, Pontiac could add a production version of the Coupe60 to its lineup as a new G8 GXP Coupe flagship. The car could then go head-to-head with rivals like the new Dodge Challenger SRT8, Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KR and even its Camaro SS cousin.
If given the green light, the source claims the car could be on the streets within three years. The only differences between it and the stunning concept would be a taller roofline, conventional B-pillar, and less aggressive styling both inside and out. It would also feature the same specifications as the new GXP, which means 19in wheels, FE3 sports suspension, a 400hp-plus V8 engine and an optional six-speed manual.
“The G8 Coupe is not dead,” said one source within the company. “This is an uphill battle. It shouldn’t be. But it is.”
The biggest stumbling block is the U.S. government’s new CAFE standards. Although carmakers won’t have to meet the 35mpg fleet-average fuel consumption rating until 2020, there’s no knowledge of what interim deadlines will be in place in the meantime.
