This picture looks like it was Photocrapped. Seriously, an RX-8 front-end on a Miata rear? jonnyb, you make a good point. I just hope that all of Mazda's future cars don't look like the RX-8.

 

that's a mule, we don't know if that is the actual look of the new 2005 miata.

In an auto mag at the news stand, I just read an article about the new miata, they claimed it will be built on the RX-8 chassis. the photo they showed didn't look anything like the one above. And the car had a retractable metal roof.

 

which mag did you read that in? i just read about it in the new car and driver. the pic they showed is the second one i posted.

 

I couldn't tell you. I was reading mags as the wife was shopping. I basically read every car mag on the stand...

Glad to know I'm not the only guy who has to do that when the wife is shopping..., do you feel guilty that you read all of them but not buy? I never seem to feel that way.

Seriously, I can see thetm cutting costs by sharing common parts, everyone's doing it these days (especially the military aviation community). But I don't think they would make them all look the same/similar. At least I hope not.

and for the record I believe thats an RX7 mule because it has the rotary's trademark extremely sooty duel exhaust sticking out the back.
