Boxster Coupe

I ran across this today, I have seen other boxter coupe photos, as I am sure you have too.

Could you see yourself in something like this??

I love the back end

I think the Boxster is better than a 911 since it is mid-engined versus rear engined. The rest of the cars are very similar. The Boxster is a bit lower powered but it is also lighter.

I like it. Having had a 99 (I think that's right) Boxster, I beleive that my "8" is a near twin to my memory of the Boxster. Acceleration and handling as I remember are identical. The biggest differences are the "8" has a back seat, the boxster has a "rag top" and costs near double an "8" when optioned out.

Somehow I doubt Porsche is going to dilute their 911 design that much and sell a 50k car that looks just like their 80k car.

They are already moving the new 911's headlights back to oval instead of the boxster-like headlights. They have had a ton of complaints from 911 users due to the similarities. Why would then they shoot themselves in the foot with this move?

Jason,

I've seen these pics in one of the auto mags I read. If my memory serves me correctly, the coupe version shown here is already slated for production ... I think.

These days nothing is out of the question. I admit it is possible Porsche might be making their boxster look just like a 911, but I seriously doubt it. It doesn't make any sense. What would be the logic in that move?

The photos above would only take less than a minute to create using the healing tool in photoshop.

Jason,

Yep photoshop would be easy. Byt the way, the 911 owners back in 97 SCREAMED the same thing about the two models being two similar and way different in price. So defintly you would think they would have leared. But the articles I read talked highlighted the different headlights and taillights to head off this next round of discontent!

heh.

Porsche in my opinion, has been going down hill -- their new cars look like *** compared to the previous gens (993), and barely change from year to year. Meanwhile other auto makers are moving up their top end models in hp and design. We're seeing 500 hp range while Porsche sits at 350 with a car that looks just like the old bath tub cars of the past.

No one is immune to bankruptcy. Porsche of all companies should know this.

Does anyone know Porsche's financial situation?

Having owned several porsches in the past, I can safely say I have no desire to own another.... maybe my lack of desire to buy Porsches is giving me the false impression that they aren't as profitable, when it could be quite the opposite.

I see quite a few of their SUV's on the road.

Convertibles are not for me either. I like the coupe and if it ever comes out it's definetely on my short list ......

Umm... except for the fact they already did exactly that with the current 911 and Boxster.

So far though, I'm really digging this car. If the coupe is several grand less than the roadster, that would put it close to the Audi TT price range, which would make for an extremely compelling car.

On the other hand though, if it's just a roadster with a hard top welded on, and by the time it comes out I can buy a brand new, faster RX-7 that feels just as good for $10-15k less, then it will be pretty irrelevant (to me).

The thumbnail made the rear picture of the car look like a Z33. I think the Porsche Boxster is a better-looking car than the 911.

I'm liking it. It looks WAY better than the current Boxster. I think it'll be a hit.

Porsche Bottom Line

Just read the other day that Porsche post great profits for the just past fiscal year. This is probably related to increase of SUV sales since 911 numbers were less and Boxster numbers were flat.

Near perfect.

Porsche's the best earning german motor company and is considered to be one of the best managed corporations in Germany. Currently there's rumor about Porsche planning a 4th model (a 4 seated coupe).

I personally like how they vary the original 911 shape instead of going "modern", they just improve the car with every generation instead of risking to lose their identity, like e. g. BMW does at the moment.

Why would porsche owners complain about getting screwed? Isn't the point of owning a porsche to show that you can waste money? Isn't the one who wastes the most money the winner in that circle?

I hated the convertibles but I must admit that boxster looks pretty cool.
