Excellent news - I wonder what the anticipated availability date is when it hits the shores of the US of A.

Odd that there were no videos of the car bring driven or video/audio of the engine sounds....

So, any updates on this thing?
Happened to mention Skyactiv-X in a car chat last night and I couldn't find any recent updates on when it's coming out. What's going on?

It appears the X isn't available yet on 2020 models:
SKYACTIV®-G6 186-hp, 2.5L DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with variable valve timing

Well, I'd bet that this part doesn't happen in the US market:
BC.

Whether mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, the SKYACTIV-X engine delivers an instant response when you put your foot down. It pulls like a turbodiesel, but revs like a normally aspirated gasoline engine.

The current Mazda3 is technically sold with a stick shift in the lower trims and FWD only.
Whether or not the dealers have them, that's a different issue.

maybe not rushing into it because the option selection overseas is selling way below projections
plus some are aware of the past history of radical technology here today, gone tomorrow
it does seem a bit more legit than say; Miller cycle. Some people may wonder if the higher initial cost coupled with the cost difference of recommended minimum mid-grade fuel is going to play out enough to bother chancing it. There’s an SC and other stuff highly dependent on pcm processing and other e-controls that could add up to headaches and added costs of maintenance and replacement.
