New Honda HSV-010....

After a single teaser, a slew of spy shots and a handful of videos, Honda has finally released all the official details on its new GT500-bound HSV-010 racecar. Based on the discontinued NSX successor, five HSV-010s will hit the track at the SuperGT season opener this May, with 10 drivers, including Ralph Firman and Yuji Ide.

While the road car was believed to have been powered by a new V10, the HSV-010 uses a 3.4-liter V8. The engine is likely a derivative of the powerplant used in the Acura ARX-01 LMP2 car in the American Le Mans Series over the last three years. With 496 horsepower and 289 pound-feet of torque propelling its 2,425 pound mass, Honda's new team of GT500 racers has the chance to take the Japanese series by storm.

Looks beautiful... omg its breathtaking...

289 Ft-lb of torque??? Seems kinda low, what do Grand Am 8's (#70 Speedsource) make Torque wise? Because id assume it has just as much Hp and more torque than that... hmm

I agreed, the Honda HSV, looks diabolical.....and the exhaust scream is heavenlly.......

Torque figure for Speedsource cars
2008 Mazda RX-8 specs.
Engine20B Three rotor rotary engine (1,950cc)
Max Power 415HP @ 8500RPM
Max Torque 285 ft-lbs. @ 7600
Max RPM 8800
Dry Sump Lubrication
Bosch 4.3 ECU

I thought the torque figure for a 3.4litre car is very decent at 289 ft-lbs and also its stroke to bore ratio

Hmm... so it pretty much beats the Speedsource 8 by ~80 more hp and 4 ft-lbs of torque, and less weight... (how much does the Speedsource car weigh?)

And wow, only makes 415hp? Jeeze I thought it made more than that...

I have taken the specs from
http://www.speedsourceinc.com/index....late=mazdacars

But plse bear in mind that these cars are competing in different series so it might not be fair to compare them in such circumstances as they operate under different regulation (eg. intake restrictors etc)

Yeah!!!!! The Furai sounds orgasmic too.......

Is it my ears but there there seems to be some similarities at idle just on throttle with the "brap brap brap" for both cars..........or I must be on weed....haha..

Damn, I didn't read the Honda was competing in a different series... So then that makes the direct competition the Furai then eh?

No probs, the Honda is suppose to compete in SuperGT, the previous JGTC as mentioned in Alfy's thread........
As for the Furai, its a concept car I think based on a LMP courage chassis with our favourite 20b and dont think its slated for any competition currently....Pls correct me if I am wrong.

It will be interesting to have a battle between Furai, SuperGT, DTM and LeMans GT class...
