You need to learn to drive first. You have to crawl before you run.

having been a 17 year old with a sports car 7 years ago id say that yes you cold in theory drive the car conservatively but in reality you don't. I labeled my car "air feras" for example, because hell i'd look for any hill i could jump go as fast as i can and jump it. It was fun...it was stupid and im lucky i didnt get killed...i still don't drive conservatively and i have gotten into accidents.

I mean no disrespect to you but you aren't a matture adult (neither am i) and you are going to drive the car the way it wants to be driven...and you will likely get into an accident, thats the reality and who knows it may be fatal and it may kill others. The more power under your foot the more experience you really need. So if you are comfortable with that say that...don't spout the bs about being able to drive the car conservatively because with 99% accuracy i can tell you you wont.

Please do not get the MS6. I'm enjoying very cheap insurance on this car.
Seriously, the MS6 is an adult luxury car, and you won't find many teenagers choosing that when they have $30k to play with. There's much better choices, and this car really isn't as fast as the specs indicate (274hp 280 torque). It feels heavy, and drives heavy. If Dad gets you the BMW M3, then take it. Who cares about reliability or repairs, they are covering that. It's not even a concern for you, so get the nicest, fastest car you can for $30 grand. There's lots of great choices, and you won't be paying for insurance or maintanence, so you got quite a selection. Enjoy!!

after reading 5 pages of this, Ill give my input... This is all directed towards the thread starter.

I got my RX8 when I was just over 19 y.o. I put down 1/3 of the cost of the car, plus I pay 50% of the insurance and 100% of gas and maintainance. My first car was a 1994 BMW 5.25i AT with over 90k on the odo when it was given to me (when I was 16). My faher raced cars for 35 years before he stopped (when I was born) and now is just a weekend enthusiast. I learned to drive when I was 12.

Even taking all of that into account, some people on here would still call me 'spoiled' (and have). Most people on here believe that if you didnt pay-in-full YOURSELF that you dont deserve it... thats not always true.

Prove everyone wrong. Show everyone here, your parents, and more importantly YOURSELF that given the amazing oppritunity you have to drive an M3 or RX8 or MS6, you will handle it with care and responsibility.
Your father is dropping $30k on a car for you, dont you think you could chip-in and buy yourself some track time with an instructor, or maybe pay for the oil-changes? Im sure you have the means... yes, that would mean NOT putting an exhaust on your car RIGHT AWAY, it would mean EARNING the right to drive that car evey day. Show people you are willing to EARN the car even after you HAVE the car, and they will respect you, because it shows you DESERVE the car.
Your worried about prestige at school? I went to school with the BACARDI children, O.J. Simpsons kids, Lenny Kravitz kid, and some of the Englacias family to name a few. They all drove BRAND NEW Mazerati's, Jags, M3s, 6.50ci, AMG's, Porsches.... and I was driving an old BMW with a busted tail-light, two missing hub caps, and blown front shocks (sounded awful). Trust me, I know what its like to try and compete with that kind of a crowd. If you spend your life trying to one-up the other guy, your gunna die miserable and unfufilled. Be happy with what you have, take pride in it, and show people that even though you may not have EARNED it, that you DESERVE it.

Other than that, I wish you the best of luck... Drive safe, and take car of your ride, whatever it ends up being.

Ok my parents made a decision, either I'm going to continue driving my mom's rx300, or we're getting an M3/WRX STi, and my mom/dad are going to drive that for a year while I get more experience, then I get to have the car.

Do you go around trying to insult as many people as possible? Sure, the kid may have came off like a spoiled brat, but it seems like he and his family made a smart decision.

rx300s a great car to learn on, drives smoothly like a car not too fast, and is pretty safe. And it actually can go through deep snow.

It seems to me that a lot of us ask ourselves what you are still doing here. Seriously, look at the majority of your posts, judging by what you post, you seem to be the idiot.

Ah, so you're doing what I think you should've done! Except of course, I was thinking of you driving a Civic, Mazda 3, or Corolla for high school AND college...
