So what was done to the car before you got it and what are you planning to do? I'm pumped for you dude. I know you've been looking to replace the WRX for as long as I've been a member of this forum and for as long as I've been reading your posts on NASIOC. My money was on you getting a new STi but you'll be happy with this car...even moreso than the STi if I may be so bold. It's got more tuning potential. Believe me! Every power mod I've done to this car has been worth every penny.
You've probably done all of the research already, but some of the pitfalls to watch out for on Evos are aftermarket intakes. Waste of money. Plenty of 11 second Evos on the factory airbox and filter. Also avoid blow-off valves. I know the pshhhh pshhhh sound and turbochargers are a match made in heaven to some people...and I miss the sound from time to time...but the Evo's ECU uses a mass air flow sensor. If you vent any air to atmosphere it'll throw off the MAF sensor and cause studdering, bucking, sloppy idle, rich conditions and stalling. It's not worth it. And finally EvoM is run and frequented by mental midgets, newbs, and fanbois. It's become an absolute embarassment to the Evo community. Find a good local forum. You'll meet other owners. If there's nothing specific to WI feel free to join the NorCal boards. I don't think you'll be able to make our meets, but every big Evo tuner in the country (except Vishnu) posts there on occasion. Gruppe-S, WORKS and even Dave Buschur and Al from Dynoworks post.
BTW...I'm so jealous of how much fun you're gonna have in the snow. Just be careful if you do some 360's because if the steering wheel is turned all the way for some reason some people have toasted their power steering pump. So basically just make sure the steering wheel isn't turned all the way left or right.
And finally POST SOME PICS!

Here's the kicker, I told them I wouldn't consider the car unless I talked to a Mitsubishi dealer about it. They got out the phonebook and I called the Mitsubishi dealer I'd be getting it serviced at. It just happened to be the dealer that sold it and also serviced it and the service manager knew the mods on the car and thr owner and told me getting it serviced under warranty there will be no problem with the current mods. Also told me that they wouldn't hessitate to buy a car that was owned by the previous owner. IN addition there were no red flags (lets hope they're not messing with me). This dealer in particular has 2 people in their service department with modded Evos and one is the founder of the local Evo club so I'm guessing they overlook a lot of mods when possible. Then I found out that the owner of the Evo offered up his phone number and the stock parts on the car if the buyer wanted them. Lastly I found out it was traded in on an Accord Hybrid. All these things added up to an adult driver that took great care of this car and didn't skimp anywhere.
Now, I need to figure out what to do about the BoV and the Intake. I knew these were not great mods, though I thought they were not as bad for the Evo as they are for the WRX but correct me if I'm wrong. The plan right now is to enjoy being a total ricer for a little while and then put the stock BoV back on if I actually get it from the previous owner. If not I was going to go for a full recirculating BoV like the Forge, or are guys still having problems with that? Not sure about the intake yet, my understanding is it's not worth it more so than it will do damage on the Evos. I also know the K&N is crap, but going to do some readin to decide if I want to try to go back to stock of waste money on another intake (depends on if the original owner will just give me the stock airbox). Why people do useless mods to the WRX/STi and Evo I'll never know.
The other good news is AMS is about an hours drive from me and I have a funny feeling they might get a visit soon and also have a funny feeling they've seen the car before I'll miss the Subaru community, I'll probably still post over there a bit, but I've always posted more here than anywhere else (you guys are so lucky!).

Lousy pic but it's all I could manage without waking up the neighbors (damn you HKS). I'll get some more tomorrow after I dirty her up a bit. Also I don't think I've ever seen an engine bay so clean, my brand new WRX was dirtier than this.

congrats Ike.
Nice car and definitely a move up from the plain jane wrx. I personnally like the sti better ( more reliable), but both cars will give you that permanent smile on your face. Nice color, looks in great condition. As long as you have a good mitsu dealer locally, I think it was a good trade. Have fun...
So...RicerIke?

Ike,
congrats on the new Evo! You gotta put Evo in your name somewhere otherwise you won't be able to pick on all the noobs and confuse the crap out of them.
We demand more pics...
