Smoking turbo yay
Japanese magazines love generating these mock ups. Fun in its own way, but I wouldn't take it too seriously.
I don't expect to see a rotary sports car before the RE range extender. The economies of scale is so terrible for a rotary halo sports car, Mazda can't possibly have the resources to pull it off.

The rotary engine needs alot more time to be tinkered with I think. It could happen though one day. Just look how many years the basic piston engine has been around and how many engineers and back yard builders have been screwing around with them. If the same amount of time and brains were out on the rotary I think it could be somthing great.
