My new car + build thread

Hello RX8club. Some of you may remember my accident I had on 3/30/11 and my rants that soon followed for the bs I ensued. I apologize for my overreactions, but it was an extremely emotional and traumatic time for me. She was gone too soon, and deep down, I still miss her despite being autotragic, and a 4 speed at that..

Here she is as remembrance.

I was at fault, only one involved, so it affects my insurance rates quite heavily, so I hope no one is disappointed with the choice I made in the car I bought. Insurance is actually quite cheap for my new car, and parts are very cheap, for the most part. Its pretty amazing. As well as a reliable motor, cant go wrong.

Okay, I bought a 1995 Acura Integra LS 5 speed M/T *NOT V-TEC ENABLED*

I bought it on 4/20/11. There are some goodies that were already on the car, and since then, I've put a lot more stuff onto it.

What it came with:
AEM intake
Skunk2 Short Throw Shifter
Strut bar
Tokico Gas Shocks
OBX Springs
ZR rated tires on 17 inch rims
Panasonic Head Unit
Pioneer Speakers all around
Custom Paintjob
Racing clutch
Some sort of exhaust

What I put on:
Halo Light Headlights
Aftermarket Rear Taillights
Black Bumper Lights
Putco 6k Low Beam Bulbs
Complete LED Conversion for Interior, Front Turn Signals, and Taillights
DC Sports Ceramic Coated Header
Sway bar
6 Point Chassis Stabilizer
Fresh Front Leather Seats
Fresh Carpet Mats
New Tint 50% in front, 6% limo tint in the rears and hatch
Two 12' Kicker subs
400 Watt Kicker Amp

Whats going in:
MSD Ignition (after I get new spark plugs)
Aftermarket Lower Control Arms
2 Point Stabilizer for behind the front seats
Sparco Seat Harness
JDM Fog Lights
Megan Racing Camber Adjusters

Thats all I can think of, I believe. Some of you might view my exhaust tip as a fart cannon, which I didnt put on, but trust me... It does not sound like any farting at all. Its a deep growl on mine. Its been done right

I remember when I had my RX8, my MPG was always 12, constantly.. Wasnt a big deal to me. I remember getting 15 MPG in my Sebring...
First time I fill up doing the same type of driving, in the city... 22 BAM! 22 again BAM BAM! Went for a short trip that used half a tank and came back to my regular driving.. 26 BAM!!! I'm new to this fuel efficiency stuff lol

Also when I got it.. The previous owner thought it needed a paint job. Pics of when I first got it show a faded mark along the passenger side. It was like that on the whole roof too as well as the trunk. It was just oxidation. I rubbed it out, looks good as new. Waxed it, used clay bar, good as new except the front bumper... It looks like it was behind a gravel truck for 100 miles. But thats the only thing

Now you probably want pics? Heres pics of when I first got it, and then pics of everything else, enjoy, and thank you. Will keep updates on this

that rear spider man stabilizer seems absolutely pointless, it also looks cheap.

ive seen some very cleanly modded integras, and while i've seen worse, its certainly not clean or tasteful. you just seem to be buying every bit you can afford just because you can.

anyway, whatever dude. if you get an fb and do this ill slap you

Wow that looks like ****.

Perhaps paint matching the front bumper would have been a better idea than doing rice mods right off the bat?

I come from a Honda background. That car is a ******* rag. Sorry dude.

The paint is several years old, and probably has many thousands of miles on it, so it became chipped, obviously

The spider bar is rare and discontinued. The pic with it and all the other parts I bought off a friend that used to have a clean integra but now has an 8

The rims came with the car, but rims are never rice, just baller if anything.. I put those tails on, but purposely chose the black housing to avoid the shitty altezzas. I also got them because they were clear lenses

It doesnt have a bad bodykit on it or a huge *** GT wing, so why dont you all specifically point what is rice.. it wont offend me, because I wont care. But I am curious

Btw I am looking into new rims too. But if you dont like it, then whatever, blow me

Ok, well, I'll start with:

Headlights (yukbarf)
Taillights (vomithurl)
Interior LED's (ricer green w/tan interior?)
Reverse light (annoying)
*breath*
Harness bar (why with stock seats and chrome wheels?)
Old safety harness (probably dated and won't pass tech)
Hatch brace bar (just because it's rare, doesn't mean it's cool. Those were a dime a dozen when I was into Hondas.)
Old LCA's (bushings that will go bad before you know it negating any mad tyte benefits, yo)
DC 4-1 "choke point" header with smashed up primaries (well known for being a "just for looks" header)

All of this is further magnified by the fact your front end is in primer, and you bought all of this weak titty **** instead of taking care of that first and foremost. Because had you, that car wouldn't look half bad sans the wheels.

I can go on, but I won't. If you got most of those parts from your boy, cool. But I hope you didn't pay much for them. It's pretty much a cardinal sin/total rice initiation to replace taillights on any Honda, especially tails that look like that. The ****? The headlights are amazingly mediocre at best, but still kinda ricey. I know you think it all probably looks good, but I assure you, it doesn't. Don't believe me? Make an intro thread on club integra, post pics, then provide a link for us to witness the carnage. I will then laugh at you getting butthurt and telling people with magazine feature cars to suck your ****/call them ******* (oh, the extreme ******* irony)/wouldn't know what rice was if it slapped them in the face. Which you just did to us.

If it were my car, I'd take all of that bullshit off, sell it and get the front end painted. I'd look for an OEM GSR catback, OEM GSR airbox and some polished GSR blades. Slam it, drive it, and enjoy the gas mileage. It's a b18b. It won't be fast without a big boy dose of nitrous, LS-Vtec conversion or boost. It's not a race car. No reason to sound like one when it runs 16s downhill with a strong backwind.

Good day to you, sir.

Its now apparent to me that none of you have ever had a work in progress car.. true, its got a fart cannon, but if you heard it in person, it definitely does not soun like any fart can. If it did, id be buying an aem exhaust, but it doesn't, so I'm leaving it. So you can think whatever you want, I don't care

But if you do in fact talk **** about, then please back it up with your reasoning so maybe I can tweak things around. Just don't compare me to real ricers with huge wings and rattle canned body parts that are bigger than the car itself, and really HUGE rims. I'm not aiming for a show car, just a decent daily driver.

And again wtf about my rims? My RX8 rims were an inch bigger and also chrome plated

If it was me I would have repainted it first. Also what is with the super annoying bright reverse lights and the random bars in the back of the car?

It looks like poles you would use to set up a tent or something

If it was repainted (at least the bumper) and you took that stuff out of the back it would look ok I guess. (personally not a huge fan of the wheels but if u like them go for it)

I've bought one too many previously modified Hondas, and shelled out too much of my own hard earned fixing other peoples mistakes/buying stock **** to replace old, shitty worn out cheap aftermarket crap. I know the plights first hand dude, so i'll try to point you in the right direction.

Ok. Your rims, I will admit, aren't bad. And the stance of your car looks pretty good. BUT it's kinda strange seeing them on an integra. They'd look more at home on like...a rice mobile or some 80's VIP platform. Those are 17's right? Dude I bet you if you put some factory wheels on it, you'd notice a HUGE improvement in acceleration/braking/ride quality. Those are probably 25+ pound choppas on there, Project Pat. Plus the weight of the tire. Chrome is heavy. It takes a lot of energy to turn/stop those *******. Nothing was wrong with the wheels on your RX8 because they were OEM wheels, and they didn't have baby dick brakes sitting behind them.

I wasn't trying to bust your ***** too much, but it's probably better to hear it from us first before you go on club integra, or worse, Honda Tech and get ripped apart/deemed a ricer by the community.

At least you don't have underglow/a kit/type R wing. Speaking of which, holy ******* ****, burn those floor mats. They are fake as ****.

I'd go back to at least the stock tail lights, see if you can't trade wheels with somebody and get that front bumper painted. The color of your car is sick, it's just killing the overall look having the front end in primer. You might consider picking up a front lip too if you're gonna paint the front.

Also, get active in your local Honda community. Go to some big meets, and see if you can't draw some inspiration.

There's some advice. At least it's a start and yea the car needs some work. Something about integers and their front bumpers, just about every one I've seen is like a flat color.

Anyways, dude it's your car, you can do whatever the hell you want with it whenever the hell you want as long as in the end it doesn't look like ****. Mods are an addiction and I know this(there's still these god awefull scratches I need to take care of but paint is an expensive buisness. Just no wings, no stickers, no random pinstripes, no tow hooks for no reason, no glows, and please no wings. The rest is up to you man

Well thank you for the honesty, but I'm not trying to go all out, serious oem honda or anything.. I'm just doing what I like. The rims are decent, but I'm 100% sure they're just chrome plated. The previous owner said he'd take the rims if I got new rims, but I don't want to jump the gun on the first thing I see. I work full time so I can't research all day for this... I don't see how the stock header is better than that header. This one allows more exhaust flow, and I live in cali, so its got to be carb legal, which it is, and so is my intake that came with the car. And for this old car, a paintjob would be the biggest waste of money. It'll be cool, yes, but I only have liability only, so if something happens, I don't want to be down $1k

Then leave it looking like **** and make it stupid fast. My old LS-vtec beater VX hatch would do low 12s at the track with a 125 shot and GSR tranny. Of course this was like, a 4 thousand dollar motor in a shitty looking rusted hatch lol.

Either way, Hondas are cool cars to wrench on yourself. But for real, get out there and check out some other people's rides, and make some Honda buddies. You might find yourself inspired, and want to take the car in a completely different direction.

It depends man. I doubt it'd cost 1k to paint your front end. Maybe 500. Even less if you do the prep yourself and buy the paint.

There are so many different avenues to go when modding a car. It all comes down to personal preference. Are you looking to have a fun daily, something that looks really good, something to take to the track ect?

I will tell you this. Read reviews. Do research. Thankfully with there being so many integras on the road, if you see something you like chances are someone has it and has reviewed it this way, you save yourself the headache of buying parts that don't fit worth a ****, or break easily.. This and shopping around for the best prices will help you and your wallet big time. Not to mention your sanity haha.

Good luck dude.

i see. Well I'll run with what I got for now, I have other future expenses im trying to save up for.. move out of the house, etc.. in regards to my front bumper, yes those pics were before I rubbed it alll out and made her shiny again. As I've already said before, the front bumper was the only part I couldnt really do, that does need a paintjob.. but it doesnt looked primered like in the pic, I'll have to post a fresher photo up. It is fresh in the set of pics when I got my 6k low beams, but I'll post another one up later tomorrow

The rims I'm looking at right now are TIGHT btw, havnt seen them on any car on here or club integra, but they're a reliable brand for sure

excuse me? thats a pretty bold generalization. look at my photobucket link on my fb. and tell me its not a "work in progress". i bought that car for $500. it sat for 4 years. and didnt run.

i have done ALL the work myself. in the year and a half now ive owned that car the only shop she's seen was on inspection day.

this integra is not a "work in progress". youre just modding it.

I'd agree that it is slightly rice... including some of the things you did. I'm trying to be constructive here.... the things that stand out to me are the tail lights and the green interior lights. The green seems a bit too much. I've had red interior LEDs but it matched the interior and red is a bit more of a normal color for lighting like that. As for the tail lights... at least they aren't chromed/altezza style, but again they seem like a bit too much. It seems too obvious that they aren't stock and I don't mean that in a good way. It just doesn't seem to fit.

Definitely not digging the wheels, but it sounds like you're planning to fix that. I'd definitely say it needs a few things to be "clean" but it's not so far gone that it will be difficult to get it there. Seems like a good car to work with.
