The V-Rod is awesome. I have never driven one, but they say the Porche designed engine in the V-Rod really makes it move out.

I like the Aprilia Mille R and the Buell Firebolt XB9R.

Digisan: Porsche did have a hand in designing the V-Rod's engine.

I, too, am a fan of the Aprilia Mille and Buell XB9R and XB9S. However, I don't like that the XB twins still use Harley Sporster engines. I mean, really, come on! The XB9 displaces about 900cc, yet every modern 600cc sport bike kills the Buell in HP. It's a shame to drop such an outdated, underpowered lump into such a cutting-edge chassis. It would be like dropping a push-rod I-6 into the RX-8.

So here is my solution. Ditch the Sportster engine and drop in a Rotax 998cc, DOHC, 60 degree V-twin, like that of the Mille. That would be SO sweet!

I'm going to have to dissagree with you on that one. The XB9's best attribute is handling, due to its amazing chassis and light weight. The V-Rod's engine is a big (1500cc +), heavy lug that would weigh the XB9 (900cc) down and destroy its handling abilities. On top of that, the V-Rod STILL makes less HP than the Mille. More torque, sure. But not much more. And you don't need that much torque in a bike that barely weighs 400lb, anyway.

Besides, the V-Rod's engine is just too big to fit in that tiny frame. No, I say go with the Rotax. It's already proven to be an mazingly versatile performer in the Mille and every other bike Aprilia makes. It would provide the XB9 with some much-needed oomph, without adding much weight.

Throw in a 6-speed gearbox and the XB9 becomes an almost perfect bike.

Remember, cars lean the wrong way. These have been my rides:

My current ride is the 996. I'll keep this one. Planning to buy the 999. No garage is complete with 2 Ducatis.

I thinking about getting a motorcycle again, Ive been looking at the Honda CBR600RR , has anyone ridden this, or have a friend that has the bike to share some experiences?

Desmo996 makes a great point. Motorcycles are SO good today because of the extreme competition, that it really comes down to a matter of personal taste. This is most true in the 600cc Supersport class. The current batch of Supersports are SO good, SO close in performance, and SO refined, that the only deciding factor left is which is prettyest in YOUR eyes.

Always have owned a m/C since I was 17.

My wife likes to ride and travel on the bike, so I decide get something we both can enjoy, the GL1800 fit the bill. Nice handling, great tourer and lots of power/torque.

All the I4 horsepower will not do you squat on a supermotard course against my 1 cyl. KTM Duke. I am also sure that a 1971 XL350 will outrun you on any trail you want...

I meant the fastest among sportbikes. It was dynoed last august at 144.6 RWHP with a PCIIIr with custom map, 3/4 exhaust (I kept the HTEV) and a BMC filter.

I had a YZ 250 that I recently sold. It was far more fun that riding on the street. I've been riding for over 8 years since I was 15. Riding is probaly the most addictive hobby there is. :)

I will be trading the Honda in for either the new R1 or CBR1000RR.
