Top Gear tested both of them and did a pretty nice Drag Race!
Enjoy!

Saw that too. Pretty sweet race, the Mclaren is such an ridiculous car, especially if you think it was designed 15+ years ago.
I liked the race between the SV and 722, as well. Especially the braking at the stoplight. \\

But seriously, the mclaren made the veyron run for it's money... only until like 260km/h the Bugatti took the Mclaren.
And, I bet the F1 dyno's at 620whp, just such immense power.

I would take the sexy F1 any day too, I had a chance to sit in a F1 Mclaren at a car show one time, what a perfect seating arangement , everything was right at your finger tips.
Awesome race , I am shock how well the F1 put up a good fight against the 1000 HP beast! My jaw dropped as how fast the F1 took off from the Bugatti, but in the end the one with the most HP wins! Honestly if it was a 1/4 mile race the F1 would have won!
4 turbos i am asumming must creat terrible lag on takes off, lol.

Yeah I was surprise about the JUMP the F1 had off the line, did not expect that knowing thing Bug's 0=60 is already insane. But being a mile long I'd wager that the bug is a lot more aerodynamic after 150mph.
Btw i would love to just drive the f1 mainly because of it's seat, it's probably awesome to simply sit in the middle of the car and drive like a racecar driver on the highway.

Seriously, the STIG did a crazy launch in the F1. All the other people launched had trouble with wheelspin. If they counted that 1/4 mile time, I'm sure it would've been lower than 11 seconds, for sure.
But I was surprised at how the Mclaren actually kept up, there was no shame in that, unlike the race with the SLR and the Veyron.

I found one for sell.
McLAREN F1 GTR
CONVERTED RACE CAR
Here's a 1996 McLaren F1 GTR that was formerly a BMW factory sponsored Motorsport race car driven by Nelson Piquet. It qualified on Pole at Silverstone and placed 11th at Lemans. It has since been retired from racing and is now converted to a legal street car. It does not have any damage, has been recently serviced and is road ready. It is one of only four McLaren F1 GTR's converted to be operated on the street. Chassis number 16R.

The outcome of that race wasn't surprising to me at all. The McLaren has a higher power to weight ratio. That's going to be faster off the line. However there comes a certain point where it's not power to weight that matters anymore but rather power to overcome aerodynamic forces. The Bugatti with much more peak power has just this sort of advantage. Up at those speeds it takes a whole lot more power just to go a little bit faster. The Bugatti off the line compared to the McLaren shows you just how much effect 1000 hp has when it comes to accelerating 4000 lbs from a dead stop. Not slow by any means compared to normal cars but look at the power differences between these 2.

That's what I wanted to say, but, you said it much better
