Which car would you rather have and why?

more relable.

after 5 yrs the BMW is xxxx. Repair bills too expensive.

M3...manual trans, better performer, and IIRC, less expensive. I also have driven both and like the feel of the BMW MUCH better than the mercedes. You feel the same way in the C63 as you do in all the C class...it's just more powerful

 

^ sorry to burst it to you bro but the c63 is a whole new car the m3 is still running for 3 years now so reliability cant be compared really just yet and i owned a 04 m3 before i crashed it and had no trouble with it what so ever. juss my opinion.

on the other hand i would pick the c63 juss coz iss more powerful and more aggressive looking the bmw isnt that much different from a 3 series and too close to the 335 (which i own) and ive almost beaten an m3 and dee dub has beaten one so i bet its possible

I think he means the looks? Just different accents on the hood and such. I BELIEVE the bumpers and stuff are the same...

Personally I'd buy the bmw. all mercedes says to me is that "I payed 10K extra for that emblem up front"

plus, it's an m3... proven to be a badass car.

 

He claims to have owned higher end BMW's yet lacks a basic grasp of the English language... something doesn't add up.

Both are nice cars but in the end the BMW is the better all around performer. I believe top gear has an episode that pits the M3, RS4, and C63 and they end up agreeing that the BMW, while not the fastest in a straight line, is easily the best to drive.

 

Well having driven both I can comment some. My bosses daughter (yes, 16) has a C63 and I gladly have been giving her driving lessons and I have had the opportunity to drive it in the Texas Hill Country by myself for good chunks of time. I have to say that it just lacks the raw feeling I love about the M3. The lack of a true stick ruins it for me.

The C63 is solid, quiet, I love the multimedia capabilities, the blue tooth is great, and the interior and drivers position are great. However I do not like the tranny in manual mode with the paddle shifters (don't like it on his CL65 or his S55 either). I also don't like the fact that it pretty much looks like every other C class with all the options out there. Not to mention that my boss has yet to own a MB that has made it to 70k without significant mechanical issues.

The M3 is just a drivers car much like the 8. It has the power and the connected feel that I like and it stands out and is unmistakable. It does not feel as powerful in the straights as the C63 but I only got to drive the car for about 20 minutes so I can't give much more of a review.

 

unless you are a very serious armature track warrior,

335i, much cheaper and can match the performace with some cheap mods. that'd be my choice. you take a 50% depreciation hit after 3 years, on a 70k car, thats a lot of money to loose.

if you are more concerned about trying to appear like a baller and show off that you are driving a 70k car, C63. not many people out side of the car enthusiast circles knows what a M3 is.

 

M3 hands down, the C63 looks gaudy to me and MB's refusal to offer a manual transmission is the deal breaker. The M3's numbers look more well rounded and it is far more aesthetically pleasing to me.

Besides, bmw has a wonderful warranty program that pays for all maintenance for the first 4 years of ownership.

M3. I love the high revving engine, and it just seems a lot more sporty than the C63. Thats not to say the C63 isn't extremely capable, but the M3 just seems like it would be much more fun.

 

It seems like some people are talking about the E46 M3, and others are talking about the E92. When saying the 335i is too similar to the M3, well maybe the E46, not nowhere near the E92, which is what the OP intended to compair.

 

I actually bought a 2009 C-Class for my wife. I can imagine the C63 being nice if I were a little bit older - in fact if I had to drive a C class I would only consider driving the C63 as the lesser Cs are dominated mostly by cute younger women.

The boy racer in me would pick the M3 and the mature man in me would pick the MB.

M3. I personally find the E46 far more appealing, but either way it has consistently been rated to be one of the best overall driver's cars.

 

Guys i just choose to type that way(partially because i text that way on my phone). I can use correct grammar and spelling if i choose. Last time i checked i wasn't in an English class. Also, yes i was talking cosmetics when i said the M3 isn't much different from a 3 series but as for comparing the 335 to the m3 i am talking the E92 (come on deedub you know what i mean). The higher end BMW's come from my dad's generosity so that doesn't have anything to do with my English, and last time i checked an 04 M3 isn't high end. just my thought

MEH.... I would get annoyed with that stupid beep everytime i have to shift. Where the rx series sounds nice with their beeps, the Lexus is just plain irritating. But the ISF is alot cheaper than the m3 or c63. I would just go with an Audi Rs4

 

MB's always seem to have that old person imagine and the BMW always seem to have that douche imagine. I'm going for the M3

 

My best friend is an Internet Sales Manager over at Crevier BMW (here in Socal) and he also personally owns a Phoenix Yellow E46 M3. I've tinkered ALOT on E46M3s, doing suspension swaps, exhausts, and etc.

Here's my feedback (actually was over at Crevier two days ago):

335i (coupe or sedan) - MARVELOUS engines on these things. Zero lag, good grunt, and has definitely the options of upgrading. I think someone here mentioned that the upgrades are cheap? Dinan ECU reflash (which is quite conservative versus Vishnu and others) was $2100 at the dealer....my price through my friend would've been $1450. Vishnu was around $1600-1700. My friend had several customers bring their cars back in because the car went into limp mode and what not because of other aftermarket ECU flashes......Diagnostic fees....$300 at the dealer.

I wouldn't exactly call the car cheap to upgrade. This isn't an Evo X where a Cobb, ECUtek, and etc.....will net you X amount of power for cheap. The BMW flashes are quite technical and BMW DID NOT want you tampering with it - hence it's a pretty price to get these services done.

The 335i / 135i / 535i......all share the same marvelous engine......but be prepared for some hiccups with aftermarket upgrades unless you pay the premium for a conservative Dinan build.


E90 / E92 M3 - Great all-around car if I was going to leave it alone. Not much you can really do besides going forced induction. If you can afford that on a 70k car......I would've ended up going with a Porsche. The M3 by far outhandles the 3s in every way possible. The brakes are phenominal!

And to the poster who said they look the same? I would agree it's not as extreme of difference like the E46 or E30 M3s had over their counterparts. However, the widened fenders, exhaust, the hood, the aero, and the CF roof distinguishes it far from the 335i

If I were to choose: 335i sedan (just because I like practicality and I love how the sedans look with some Vorsteiner bits on it). I also like the MPG better and how well it takes to modifications.....something you can't eek out for the same amount of money on a M3.


C63 are awesome cars (got to drive one at Fletcher Jones when friend was getting his '09 SL). They are great cars for family men wanting that oomph. They were heavy, fast, and safe. They would however get walked over by the M3 on the track. It's just a simple fact that any driver will realize when they drive both cars.


After the RX8 (since I'll be joining the sales team over at Crevier later as well), I do plan on getting a 335i sedan w/ VS bits and full Dinan upgrades. I like having warranty and problem-free operation. And this is coming from me that used to drive a ITB'd out S2000 and more recently ITB'd Miata w/ built motor.

I'm tired of crazy modified cars.....as you get older....you start becoming a bit wiser I guess. Especially with how strict Cali is.
