Mazdatrix Titanium 13B Super Light Rotors

"These are pictures of the cast titanium multi-piece rotors we are working on. These are EXPERIMENTAL! They currently weigh a little over 6 pounds, but we should be able to get them under 6 pounds later. We are "maybe" a week or two away from getting the first set on the dyno. There will be MUCH testing before they are available for sale. Because everyone will ask, we are shooting for ~$1500 each. Based on the S5 non-turbo rotors." - Mazdatrix

Will this work for both SI and SII engines, or only SI engines?
Oh, and how much does a normal rotor weigh, for those people who don't have the stock weight memorized?

BC.

Stock rotors weigh 9.2lbs, Racing Beat's Lightweight Rotors are 9lbs, Mazdatrix is shooting for sub 6lbs. That's a huge difference!

These rotors are "Based on the S5 non-turbo rotors" nothing is claimed to be RX-8/Renesis Specific yet.

Mazdatrix also says "Currently they will only be available with 9.7:1 compression ratio. MUCH later we will look into lower (or higher?) compressions. "

1500$\ea lol. I wonder what the gears are made of, titanium isn't the best option for gears.
If you consider the price vs weight reduction these rotors are pretty damn cheap vs what racing beat offers.

The funny part will be to balance the whole rotating assembly with the new rotors...

my thought exactly G. Plus if they are shooting for 10-11K rpm you will need the needle bearing e shaft with better support and special clutch pressure plate etc.
I do wonder about the apex seal slots over a period of time?
Its nice people are trying to develope new stuff. This may be a pilot black ops Mazda design prepping for a new sky active rotary?
