The name LEGACY is use by an Australian organisation that cares for the families of dead servicemen. It has been establishes I think since WW2...

So, it would not have been a good name for a Subaru Model.

I'm guessing it's as simple as not being able to get the rights to the name in Australia.

I am sure its more to do with the fact that Legacy here is a non-profit servicemans charity.. For older folks, when you say the word 'Legacy' you instantly think of what the charity does for the dead servicemen(s) family...more out of respect.

To the older Aussie, to say "I just bought the latest Subaru Legacy" just would not sound right... I say it was a marketing/ad thing by S. Australia.

You may be surprised to know Ike that here most Subaru's are bought by older Aussies, apart from the WRX and perhaps Forester the other models are not purchased by young crew (guys)....from new.

Mazda here was the same up until their recent Model overhaul. 6,2,3. RX-8..
There are not a lot of Young RX-8 owners here with a new ticket price of $60K.

The age demographic is definitely different here to the US, and that's mainly due to retail affordability/appeal.

If you mean brakes, the mechanicals used to stop a car, the MS6's halt it from 60 in 113 ft (M/T numbers-shorter than the last RX8 they tested) and 70 in 155 ft (C&D numbers-shorter than the new M5). Most would say they're more than up to the task.

Stopping once is easy. Stopping repeatedly isn't. R&T weighed in their test car at a whopping 3700 lbs, yet its front brake rotors are actually smaller then the nearly 800 lb lighter rx8.

Btw here's a roundup of all the current mag times on the car.

MPS 6 performance data

AJAC (can)
0-62: 5.5

C&D
0-60: 5.4
1/4: 14.0@99
Skidpad: .87g

R&T
0-60: 6.0
1/4: 14.2@95
Skidpad: .83g

MotorTrend
0-60: 5.8
1/4: 14.3@96
Skidpad: .87g

Wheels Magazine (aus)
0-62: 6.5
1/4: 14.3@98 mph

Stopping once is easy, thats why they do it more than once when they perform braking tests. For someone who thinks he knows everything, one would think you'd know that.

In M/T's article they stated the MS6's brakes felt the same after repeated stops, whereas the Legacy's pathetic brakes got mushy. So again, they are up to the task.

Oooh somebody has sand in their vagina!!!

Good job reading the other 6 reviews, a few of which complained about changing pedal feel under repeated braking. Then of course that happens with pretty much any stock car under standard brake fluids and super quiet dusty oe pads.

Good job indeed. Good job, as always, of pulling wrong impressions out of your ***. Sounds like you might need to reread these reviews, or work on your reading comprehension.

Master of the OBVIOUS.

The 0-60 and 1/4 mile times posted by various mags say that Mazda was lying about how fast the MPS 6 is. They generally only lie about how much power their cars put out, but anyone can see that they lied about how quick the MPS 6 is because it's faster than the 8. If the RX8 didn't exist Mazdas factory claims for the MPS 6 would've been much more aggresive. This just shows that Mazda still will bend the truth when backed up against the wall. I guess Mazda feels ok with the RX8 being faster on paper even though most mags don't get the same times Mazda claims. I'm losing respect for Mazda more and more.

That's a retarded post. The MS6 and the RX8 aren't even competing against each other; they don't need to lie about anything. Plus you are comparing a car that came out recently to one 3 years ago.

There is a lot of pressure put on the Jap companies now with overstating hp. Look it up. With the new SAE hp ratings, they will play it more conservatively.

Mazda did not lie about the car's times. They released a ridiculously high number (likely so they would have the last laugh when the car ended being WAY faster, and at dumb asses who believed it) and the car beats that number easily. Almost EVERY company releases ESTIMATES on how fast a car is, and that's what they did. I bet if this was any other company, estimating wouldnt be called lying.
