Mazdaspeed6 - nice... tres nice
I stopped by the Scarberia Mazda Dealership last night after the gym 15 mins before closing to take a gander.
The sales guy said he had to bring it in for the night anyways so may as well go for a ride (I didnt get to drive it because they didnt get a chance to take my license info and such.... DAMN... so I was in the passenger seat)
Well... lemme tell you that this car can BOOT!... simply sprout wings and fly! not to mention that its a really nice interior IMHO, especially at night - everything lights up red..... seats are nice too. I couldnt tell you how much "bolstering" they do because we didnt take it around a series of trying bends but they seem good.
Pics dont do this car justice... you really have to see it in person to really appreciate it.... I said I would never buy it before, but I admit to being wrong! I would definitely consider this car. I think its pretty good for 40grand (cdn)
BTW black is the only colour for this car really; the other ones dont suit it as well as black does.... silver is a no no (they had a silver one too); red may be alright but black is the colour.
If you have some time, definitely go at least take a look at it

ahhh yes the Mazdaspeed6...a friend of mine has a v6 6 now, and he is trading it in and getting the MS6 next week. He went for a test drive today and he said its quite the car and handles well...Im supposed to get a ride/drive after he picks it up, so maby then I can tell you how it compares to our 8.
Specs :
2.3L DOHC 16V 4CYL (aluminium Block/heads)
Direct Injection
275HP@5500RPM
280TQ@3000RPM
Redline 6700RPM
6speed AWD
Double Wishbone Front
E Type Multilink Rear
ABS/EBD/TCS ( I didnt see it say DSC...hrmm)
Hrmm it has a 7 Speaker BOSE with Subwoofer (im guessing the 7th speaker IS the sub)
There is only a SPORT and GT model, the biggest diff is the GT gets Leather and power drivers seat and 'advance keyless entry' like the new 06 RX8.

Can't wait to read the mag comparisons between ms6/legacy.
If they stuck this drivetrain into a mazda3 then we'd have an evo/sti killer......c'mon mazda do it!

I think the Mazdaspeed3 is supposed to get the v6 out of the Mazda6, whats that like 250hp? Should be pretty fast, although that big engine is kinda heavy.....
this is just something I heard and I thought i would spread the rumor, will the v6 even fit the mazda3?

Go Texas Longhorns!
the MS3 is going to have a 2.0L version of the MS6 engine doing like 220-230HP according to the folks at Sevenstock.
I don't expect it to be AWD for cost reasons. If you want turbo and AWD, go with the Volvo S40.

oh.. one thing about it I didnt quite understand was the ignition set up
so you have a credit card sized sensor on you and when you are in the car you turn a **** that fits into the area where the key would otherwise go to start the car without having to use the acutal key.......
Why not just give it a push button start? I know its gimmicky but its much "cooler" and it achieves the same thing... How much more could have possibly cost?
Oh well just a small, miniscule gripe.....

So it looked hot in black? The one at the Tokyo Motorshow as white. Looked better in person than the pics, but... the height of the hood bothered me. The interior was sweet. But it's basically the same as other 2006 Atenza/M6's. They just updated the interior and exterior... a little less young and racey and a little more classy IMHO. I might have to take a look again when I'm ready to go car shopping...
RX-8
Mustang GT
Mazdaspeed 6
Legacy GT
Imprezza WRX
GTO
G35c
With cost as a MAJOR controlling factor... the RX-8 looks like it may be the winner...

Btw two reviewers have clocked the MPS 6 now.
First was canadian
0-60 of 5.3 seconds (US/Canada Spec)
Second was aussie
0-60 of around 5.6 seconds (Low Power Version (around 240 bhp).
The changes mazda made have turned a relatively medicore car into a must buy. Its hella fast for a GT car!

Should make the car a real hit. Talk about a sleeper...should give the Legacy GT a serious run for its money.
Now all they need to do is find a way to lighten the car up a bit.

That would get annoying, quickly. I keep my keys in my jacket most of the time; every time I walked outside, past my car, the doors would unlock? lol.
