This will be the hottest hatch period, and I need the extra trunk space. Mx-5 is for santa's little elves. I need space for my guitar amp and cabinet, plus I don't wanna sacrifice performance for space. This car will offer more than any high performance vehicle in this price range.

And Ike you can drive an MP5 full of bananas and an orangatuang like that movie with the 18 wheeler. What movie was that? Cannonball Run?

Found this on Car & Drivers website. Over 250 hp and 280 lbs of torque, so it too will be faster than the RX8. Mazdaspeed MX5 I'm sure is next. RX8 is done. Mazda's not good enough to make this car competitive in todays climate of hi-power cars. JMHO.
Ummm...don't be such a hater. Mazda usually releases their Mazdaspeed cars a year before releasing a new model. Since there already was a Mazdaspeed MX-5 in 2005, don't expect one anytime soon.

So we have:
2003 - Mazda 6
2004 - Mazda 3 / RX-8
2005 - Mazdaspeed MX-5
2006 - new MX-5 / Mazdaspeed 6
2007 - new Mazda 6 / Mazdaspeed 3
2008 - new Mazda 3 / Mazdaspeed RX-8 (we can hope!)
2009 - new RX-8???

I love the Mx-5, it's just really small, and way too small for me ( 6'2'' 240lbs ). I wish I was smaller cause I love the S2000 too.

I'm already on a call list for the Mazdaspeed3 and am going to put down a deposit when they let me know some real pricing.

No I might have to give it up, or my brother said he'd buy it ( pay my $425 monthly payment ) and then I'd kind've still have both ( at the same house ). That'd be ideal. I could maybe afford both, but my girlfriend would have to go :o)

You obviously haven't seen the specs for the new SRT-4.

Yeah but the new SRT-4 will probably weigh more...guess we won't find out for sure until they both come out.

SRT-4 with LSD should have no problem beating the MSP3 stock for stock, but MSP IMO looks a lot better. Btw, SRT-4 weights more, comparing two cars on paper, you'd think MSP3 is ahead, but SRT-4 puts down more power in reality

If so, I'd go for the WRX...(probably) more reliable and has AWD...

I've seen an SRT-4 launch next to me at a red light and look out of control stupid. WRX is definetly better, SRT-4 w/out LSD is a joke that no one even laughs at. If they give it LSD I'll give dodge credit. Still SRT-4 drivers are wannabe Nascar turds in my area.

Uhhh, only one model year of the SRT-4 didn't have LSD.

Mazdaspeed3 still my #1 choice. SRT-4 does have LSD now? When did SRT-4 come out? And when did they give it a LSD? I had no idea. Probably cause I don't care but still curious. I thought it came out in 2004?

But it looks like ***... not even taking the normal Imprezza stuff into account. The profile and rear end are just *** ugly. I'd take a sedan over it anyday. The Legacy is so so looking as a wagon in the current model... the previous wagon looked better.

Funny... I feel almost the same way. I wouldn't say the Axcela/Mazda3 is the worst on the road. The Imprezza wagon is *** ugly. Several JDM Nissan wagons are even worse. Toyota is missing more often than hitting in the styling department JDM recently too. But I do agree... I think that the Familia S-Wagon Sport 20/Protege5 looks better than the Mazda3 Wagon... and I have the Familia too. Just wish it had more power and came in stick in JDM (AWD model only had stick and it was RARE).

Yeah you're right about the SRT-4, it does have a differential now. You made me go look at it's home site and I noticed something...............
No matter what performance the SRT-4 has, it looks awful and I'd be ashamed to be seen driving it, or in it. And the protege 5 does NOT look better than the MS3........Let's take a look and compare to the first page.......

After looking at this pic jump to the first page and take another look :o)

Looks like a nice Family Car! I'll give you that Japan, but thats all. I can't believe you think that the MS3 ISN'T better looking than this little dumpy family car, nevermind the performance difference. ?? Plus all the "Protege" stuff reminds me of failure. Whatever that last Mazdaspeed Protege was, or wanted to be, really bit the dust.

The MS3 and Caliber SRT will be fighting for the title hottest and best-looking hatch. Compared to ugly **** like the wrx and matrix, theyre both masterpieces.

I do agree wrx is very ugly, even the new STi, what's the Caliber SRT, is it the hatch version of the SRT-4.

The Neon is being replaced by the Caliber. There will be a SRT-4 version of the Caliber just as there was with the Neon.

I see, can anyone post a pic of the Caliber SRT, I'm at work and I can't seem to do it from this computer. I wanna compare to MS3.

Which one do you think will own the road, the Caliber SRT, or the Mazdaspeed 3? I can see a Car & Driver article now. "Hot Hatchs" withthe Caliber SRT, Mazdaspeed 3, Civic SI, Golf GTI, Mini S-Works, WRX wagon. Who would you predict as the winner here? Probably the Golf. They created the category years ago. On the road though I think the SRT will rule.

Still will out handle cars 3x its price. If only the bean counters didn't cut down the power.

And I can't believe you people think the Caliber SRT is good looking? The Caliber and Mazda 3 hatch are both ugly as ****!
