I can't see how the interior is going to stay like this for the production model. It always looks good in the concept images but by the time production starts, the interior gets a more contemporary look. However, if the production model get's anything like this image. I'll sell my left nut to get this! :D

production starts in February with dealers making their first orders just 3 months from now in November
Interest and enthusiasm for the CX-7 has been growing ever since the MX-Crossport concept vehicle was
unveiled in Detroit. The CX-7 is an exciting new combination of sports car personality, SUV utility, and
distinctive Mazda flair. The CX-7 is a Mazda exclusive, built in Hiroshima, Japan, utilizing a Mazdadeveloped
platform and engine. The platform takes engineering from both the Mazda6 and Mazda3. The
engine is a 2.3 liter DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) Turbo.
CX-7 production will start in February 2006. The first dealer allocation will run in November.

Mazda CX7 on the way

Australia will get Mazda's new CX7 crossover in early 2007, but will miss the Mazda5 people-mover.
The smooth-looking multi-purpose CX7 has moved into the hot spot in the family class as Mazda Australia rules out a replacement for the Premacy five-seater.
"The Mazda5 will go ahead in some other markets, notably Europe, but there's definitely no plan for it to be introduced here," Mazda Australia managing director Doug Dickson says.
He says there is far better potential with the CX7, even though final details – including the crucial pricing – have not been decided.
The all-wheel-drive, V6-engined vehicle – which could be sold as the Mazda7 to fit into the current model naming code – is weighted more towards passenger-car styling.
It handles more like a car, much like the Nissan Murano, which is about to be introduced in Australia.
The CX7 was first shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January as the MX Crossport. At the time, Mazda said it was just a concept, but the positive reaction resulted in the model being confirmed for production.
While Mazda Australia is still fine-tuning its CX7 plan, it will be busy with newcomers through the remainder of this year.

I actually wasn't...the Crossport totally looks like a Murano. Different front, but everything else is almost identical.
I don't know about the dimensions, but geeez Mazda...can't you come up with an original design?

You and your girlfriend too, eh? My wife and I are also. I mistakenly compromised on the current car and bought auto... they were hard to find used and MT was only available on the rare AWD model. To make matters worse, I very distinctly prefered the styling after the "minor change"... or else I could have had it all... for less money. Oh well... you live and learn. No more autos... ever!
Only "girly men" require a automatic... even in Japan... even in Tokyo. I did just fine with my MT Honda Ascot that I used to have. I used to drive a heavy clutch '90 Mustang 5.0 LX in the US... did it through all kinds of distances and traffic. Only girly men can't handle it with the light clutches on Japanese cars.
Mazda you hearing this?? Offer an auto, SMG... I don't care what ('cause I ain't never buying it) for those girly men. But you better be damn sure to offer a MT. That (and the driving "personality" of your cars) is what could make me a Mazda owner for life. See the new M5 thread. No matter how much money I have... I'll never buy an SMG/DSG transmission. Not on a Ferrari, not on a M5, not on a Rx-8. If it is all you offer, then I'm not buying.
Offer the 6spd manual for the CX-7... even if has to be an ordered option.

"All of us at Mazda are excited to release for ordering the much anticipated all-new 2007 Mazda CX-7.
Your initial order, which you will place this month, will be for March 2006 production. Mazda requires an early initial order to secure trim level components for launch. Your second Mazda CX-7 production order, which will resume the normal monthly schedule, will be in February 2006.
Inventory will arrive in dealerships in late spring 2006.
The Mazda CX-7 continues the string of new product introductions, bringing Zoom-Zoom to the SUV market.
The CX-7, built on a Mazda exclusive platform not shared with any Ford product, offers performance and design not seen before in an SUV:
• Inspired handling with near sports car braking and acceleration utilizing the direct injection turbocharged engine and AWD system derived
from the MAZDASPEED6
• Sports car styling and premium craftsmanship
• Features and options typically found on premium priced competitors like a voice-activated navigation system, rear view camera, Mazda
advanced keyless entry & start system, and Bose® Centerpoint Surround System.
The Mazda CX-7’s styling, fun-to-drive nature and sensible price point will deliver a package not currently available to SUV shoppers.
Like the MAZDA3, the CX-7 challenges buyers to think differently about the current vehicle market. The Mazda CX-7 customers are driven by discovery and expect more than SUV versatility. They are professional couples in their late 20’s to early 40’s, living in two-income households, who want the class and sophistication of a luxury car with the performance of a sports car. They are seeking a bold product that brings together performance and design like never before. Like the MAZDA3, the Mazda CX-7 will draw a new-to-Mazda customer, so it is important that you begin to consider how this customer will interact with your brand and operations.
Similar to previous product launches, we expect strong demand for the specific vehicle that is featured in our launch advertising. "
From a Mazda dealership.
Note the bold typing for those who hate Ford. Personally, I don't care I think they are turning their lineup around.
