I know this is a little OT, but what's the appeal of these mini-SUVs like the CX-7? In terms of headroom, legroom, and trunk space it doesn't seem to be a lot bigger than something like the Mazda6. The only major difference appears to be how high you sit off the ground.
Don't get me wrong, I think it looks really great, but it just seems somewhat impractical is all. Unless you're going to have something that's a more classic SUV and use it for hauling stuff or taking it off-road I would think it would be better to just stick with a nice size sedan.

I'm was looking at getting a CX7for my wife. She needs a new car, but I just recently saw pics of the CX-9 and while the exterior looks similar to the CX-7, the interior looks way more upscale.

Well, I think the ground clearance is a big thing. Especially for snow and, if you dare, go off-roading in these things. The truck tires also do wonders in the snow and ice and you don't need to change them for summer tires either.
