Mazda CX-30 Wins WHEELS COTY 2021
Australian WHEELS Mag is one of the worlds oldest Motoring Mags and their COTY has been awarded since I think 1963,
Anyway Mazda is one more win away to level the record numbers with GMH or Holden.
This AWD CX-30 COTY 2021 is not the turbo version either that the US has just got from Mazda Mexico.
.
Mazda Australia have not committed to turbo CX-30 yet, they say it is not available out of Japan where RHD CX-30's come from
but there is the same 2.5 Turbo engine in the Japan made Mazda 3 Turbo exported to USA.
Lying bastards.

When you look at the other finalists, boy do they look FUGLY and just overdone, next best IMO is the BMW side look.
Have not driven the Skyactiv-X, really do not want to, to me it is a failure does not live up to the hype and is $3,000 more,
would rather have the 2.5 Turbo that US has....and also WHY Mazda Australia will not bring Turbo here becasue they are flogging the X.

That is such a strange comment coming from you.
Why don't you at least want to drive it?
What makes it a failure?
So when the I-6 finds its way into various models in another year or two, you're not even going to give them a try because they are going to have the X in their name?
Its not like you to not even want to try something before you condemn it.

Another thing is that it's too expensive. As ASH mentioned, there is a huge cost premium on the 2.0X. If Mazda were to release it in North America, nobody would buy it because it will be more expensive than the 2.5T and I have already mentioned the weak performance of it.
Not sure how well the 3.0X will do but if 2.0X is anything to go off of, I am not holding my breath. It will at the very best match 2.5T, probably not.
IMO if Mazda wants to be a luxury brand, they should just double that economy supercharger as a performance supercharger. If you can afford a luxury car, gas cost probably won't bother you much anyway. Again they are kinda caught between this whole "wanna be luxury but also economical" thing.

My opinion is that the technology behind is interesting, but the engine is only in its early stages of development.
For 2021 here in EU there is coming an updated version of the engine with more torque and power (non so much in absolute terms , but IMO will be noticeable) an better fuel consumption.
I'm expecting good things from the inline 6 , for you americans it will be also a "real" turbo version (as seen in the famous pictures of the three future Mazda powertrains)
