Lotus Eagle Teaser
http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080630....image-surfaces
This year Lotus are celebrating their 60th anniversary and what better way than to introduce a brand new model at their home motor show in London. We have been limited to a heavily camoflaged model in the past making styling lines difficult to make out, but now as the debut approaches we have been treated with this new teaser image.
Those of you with a good memory may also know that this isn't the first teaser to be released, back at the time of the Geneva Motor Show, Lotus revealed a single photo showing the front part of the chassis, with the suspension and brake system in view.
Power for the rear-wheel-drive sports car is expect to come from a mid-mounted Toyota sourced 3.5 liter V6 and the model will only be available as a rear wheel drive. Pricing should start at around £46,000 when it is launched early in 2009.

I'm curious how the rear end and back of the roof will be styled. I'm sure the front will be somewhat similar to the Elise. Being Lotus, I know the car will look great either way.

I'm sure they are aiming for lower weight as the final V8 Esprit weighed like 2800-2900 lbs while the Elise is still around 2000 lbs. The 3.5 V6 also matches the V8's 3.5L capacity and I think an Exige S with its super charged I4 could easily out perfrom the last V8 Esprit.

Ha Ha. I want to see it in Lotus bright yellow or white w/ solid black wheels. I don't think that pic does it any justice. I'd like to see the rear view as well as I think the modern Loti look the best from the back.

At first I thought this might have been the Esprit replacement but read they are still working on a twin turbo V8 Esprit (possible w/ BMW 4.4l and 500hp) to slot above this car. Can't wait to see that.

^^ actually, it will probably cost closer to $60k than $90k

Cars are much more expensive in the UK than the US, so just converting pounds to dollars won't give you an accurate price for what it will sell for in America.

One of the internal mantras when developing this car was '911 car for Cayman cash'
