I disagree with most of the replies. I test drove one the other day to see what it had, and did not find the nasty blind spots. I could see quite sufficiently in any direction I wanted. Maybe you need to be taller (I am 6'4"). Loved the looks, both inside and out, and I always love getting thrown back in my seat like that.
The editors behind road and track were quite right about the styling though. Taste will differ slightly depending on when you grew up. Chevy clearly did not design the car for the 30+ crowd. Which no offense to any who fit that catagory, is the first intelligent choice the company has made. That crowd is more likely to be aiming for family vehicles, or a Corvette. Camaro's are and have been meant to be an affordable sports car for the younger guys who like to use them. It was designed with a purpose, and according to all the rests, the numbers are all spot on with what they intended.

i love the camaro ive lowered mine on coilovers and painted the gfx ... intake and full exhaust yet to dyno and yes after driving the 8 and z4m of course it will feel numb but its not as bad as before its based on the holden platform which is a HUGE improvement and yes it has a blind spot but so does our 8 and the interior is bad but again not horrible! LOVE mine

When I was car shopping this summer, it basically came down to the R3 or a new Camaro SS. My closest dealership only had a V6 demo for me to try out. There were plenty of good things to say about it and a few bad things as well; my single biggest complaint about it was that the windshield, side windows, ect were so narrow that it kind of felt like I was driving around in a tank or something. This definitely took a lot of the fun out of the driving experience and it made me not bother pursuing a SS.
The first car I owned when I was 16 was a 79 Camaro; so the Camaro still has a warm spot in my heart even though I decided not to buy one. I read somewhere that an owner pulled a 12.8xx at the track completely stock!

I really love the looks of the Challenger and want to test drive one of those soon. Might also check out the 2010 Mustang. Part of me still wants to get an R3, but then another part of me says Mazda needs to show me a better rotary before I give them any more money. If the R3 were available in white in the US, it would be a done deal, but it's not.
