LED daytime running lights...
I liked them at first when I saw them on Audi's, but now I am seeing them on everything. LEDs are the new "HID 10K headlights" And it seems like every luxury brand (and ricers) is getting in on it. I remember seeing RX-8s with the foglights replaced with a strip of LEDs and liking it. Now I think it looks very ricey (like the civics with super blue HID retrofits). I have seriously seen over 9,000 cars with these LED lights. Are LEDs going to replace HID and halogens altogether???

When I saw it on a Porshe, I was very sad
It kind of reminds me of the angle light craze trying to copy BMW...

LED running lights only work on Audi cars. Headlight halos only work on BMW's. The Mercedes, Porche, and other OEM (FACTORY) LED running lights look out of place. Though I am not saying they look bad.
People who buy their cheap Autozone Racing LED strips and slap them onto any car result in disgusting nonsense. I saw an RX8 running only fogs and LED headlight strips the other night. Absolutely HORRID.

Exactly! I like the idea of LEDs, but as soon as luxury brands pick up a new "hot" feature, aftermarket copycats are there to put on cheap ricer cars. I really did like the look when it was new, but now it seems I see more aftermarket rice LEDs than on luxury brands.
I will just stick with bright white HIDs (not blue) that light up the road like they are supposed to do. I'm sure I could argue that LED daytime running lights are more of a distraction than a safety feature. But as they get more common, they will be less of a distraction I guess...
Oh well...

The first car I remember seeing them on. I really liked it at the time. It was different, looked cool!. But now compare to the 50 other cars coming out with the same thing (including the civic posted by sebarx8). Yuck.
On a related note, the R8 has seemed to start multiple styling trends. Many car companies are copying having the air intake directly below the headlight...

ALTHOUGH... I do think the 100% LED headlights on the Audi A8 are pretty sweet. I'll take whatever gives me the best view of the road without blinding oncoming traffic... I also have a DD civic with normal halogens. I have an HID retrofit that would work for the civic, but refuse to make my very common looking car look like rice. :D
