I'll concede that the WRC cars would be faster than group B on a modern rally stage due to the fact that the stages have a max allowable average speed of 120 kph. The WRC cars have superior suspension and torque, but the group B cars are 360 kg lighter and have 150+ more hp. But would the current production Evo and STi beat a group B car? I don't think so, even with their superior suspension.
I think you need to read what I wrote again...

What did I miss? You said a regular WRX would spank the group B on any surface. I'm not disputing the fact that the WRC cars are faster on current WRC stages than group B cars. But a regular WRX faster than the group B S4? No way.

Notice in the first sentence where I say Delta Integrale Evo (as in a Homologation model which is what this thread is about), then in the second sentence I say STi or Evo vs. group B car the Evo or STi would give it a run for its money around a TIGHT rally course.
The group B car would in all likelyhood win but I think it would be a lot closer than most people realize, but that's just conjecture on my part. Of course on a rally stage from the old group B days where it was more wide open the group B car would slaughter those cars.

Ahh, ok. I agree with that. Yeah, its funny how the rally car designers originally thought 4wd was too complex and heavy to be of any benefit....

Hmm, if I could import a 15 year old car I would have to go for an R32 GT-R. Or a Porsche 959 if I could afford it.
