kit cars/restorations

hey! I would love to do 1 of these in the future as a fun project but i was just wondering who here has done kit cars or car restorations. If you have i think this is the thread where you should post up pictures and tell your story. It's alot of work but when you finally finish its a great accomplishment. Post up your project then give us a description of it, i know all of us want to see them!

We (Father, brother and I) did a 1932 Ford Phaeton on a mustang 5.0 chassis. But that as so long ago they hadn't invented film yet. (no digital pics) Fun car though, All fiberglass and super light with a kinda built 5.0 V8. Even my mom couldn't resist smokin the local honda ricer boys while cruisin around town.

Ya . . I had a mustang five oh . . . dont be hatin

haha yeah, my friend and i want to either buy a really old honda/miata (havn't decided yet..im pushing for miata and he wants honda) and im just curious of other peoples projects. the car we would buy would simply be a learning car to have fun on, maybe strip the interior so we can lighten it a bit. i dono just something to mess around with.

Had a friend in highschool that died in a kit car. He was cruising down one of the twisty roads around here and went head on with a pickup that drifted into his lane. That car friggin disintegrated... fiberglass everywhere, and he died instantly. Not much protection in those things unless, I suppose, you get some roll caged tube chassis thing. Even then, you crash, you're gonna get hurt.

Sure but if it had been a "regular" vehicle, he would have had a chance. I know they're fun, just saying it's something to consider when you decide to build one.

well this wouldn't be a daily driver or anything, it would be a fun autocross/track car if anything...but mostly a learning car.
