you mean behind the cover just beyond the strut brace- it looks like there might be a tubular style intake manifold similar to the 20b pictured above?

from another angle you can see it's the valve cover.

I could still see a little red (valve cover) on the left side in the video. But I agree with you, the sound is a little different.

From the looks of it in the vid the tubular manifold is centered and in the pic it is off to one side.

The vid seems very rotoresque

the engine sounds like a ported motor with a sylencer, pay attention when the car comes back and its left at idle, you can definatly hear the lump of a ported motor on it

What has mazda being up to?

Maybe they're testing prototype engines in the Kabura. My guess is that (if its a rotary) while everyone is trying to find the test-vehicle for the next gen 8, they put it in the safest car! Its 'official' that the Kabura will be powered by a 2.0L inline 4, so no one would suspect it. Even crazy rotor-heads like us thinks the Kabura is piston-powered by now.

I think the car in the vid looks squished because It was a 16:9 shot vid, squished to a 4:3 ratio. Even the porshes looked squished. that is not what it looks like in real life. If you can imagine the vid being stretch a bit horizontally it would not look nearly as balloon like.

I was excited about the Kabura, but now that they are up to M1, it is starting to get pretty fugly.
Pretty obvious that is NOT a rotary motor (unless there was something wrong with it).

You get a peek at the engine bay in this vid too. The layout looks similar to the video above and not the still picks with offcenter intake manifolds...

With a date of June 06 on this video it makes me wonder how many times mazda has toyed with what kind of powerplant this thing will actualy have....

I don't know, when it slowed to pull into the parking lot it seemed to have some rotary pop.

The Kabura might look good with a little cleanup, and a rotary option. They can sell other engines as long as the rotary is an option. I think it is do-able.

x2

The front end isn't too bad, ditch the whole windshield stretch look, stretch the whole car out some, and give that rear a trunk look similar to the 8. THEN I might consider it.
