June '07: The month of Mazda comparo wins
First the "aging" RX8 is chosen over the brand-new Audi TT, the 'updated' 350z, and the Mustang in Car and Driver.
Next, the Mazdaspeed 3 takes yet another first-place win, over the GTI, Mini, Si sedan, and Spec V in Road and Track.
And lastly, the CX9 is unanimously chosen over the MDX and Arcadia in Motor Trend.
Keep up the good work Mazda.

Read the MT Crossover comparo. The MT folks gushed over the CX-9. The CX-9 is a going to be a great success for the Mazda folks. Mazda did the details far better than the Ford Edge team.

Oh NO not another comparo where the Mazda (CX-9) is 35HP Down!, BUT, Still comes out on top...
Sound familiar to anyone...
No doubt the new Mazda 6 will kill the opposition including that UGLY looking new Lancer with the Audi slash new Hyundai grille.
Car designers are really running out of ideas.

CX9 vs. MDX
i test drove both and picked the MDX. I've got a 2007 MDX w/tech.
the mazda was nice - the GT trim level was very luxurious. the sport and touring felt cheap by comparison. to get a CX9 that was close in feel/luxury to the mdx you needed to get one loaded and the price became very close to that of the MDX.
when i looked the mazda dealer refused to come off even MSRP on the CX9. given the resieduals - my lease deal was barely any better than the MDX where dealers came off MSRP quite a bit.
having driven both - the CX9 was a better choice if you HAVE to have 3rd row seats and plan to use them often. the 3rd row had more room and was easier to get in/out of .
the MDX was far more luxurious feeling. was noticeably faster, and handled better. if you need a third row sometimes - the MDX is fine. we use ours once a month maybe... and if you are using it for kids mostly - either car's are fine.
overall - the only way the CX9 should have beat the MDX was due to price. and once you really compare what you're gonna pay/month on a lease - the MDX really is the better deal. i bet i pay an extra $50/month over what mazda wanted....and after driving both - the Acura made me WANT the car. the mazda felt more likea compromise after driving the MDX...
