Jay Leno article with RX-8 and Cosmo in accompanying photo
I was looking around at Jay Leno's articles at Popular Mechanics website
and noticed the photo accompanying an article on the Lost Art Form of Owners Manuals, (Article on Manuals), has him sitting in front of two rotary powered cars looking at on old manual that is probably for the Cosmo. Neither car is mentioned in the article but it's interesting that he chose that one to look at and where to sit.

I've got an RX-8, and it's the same thing. It's only 238 horsepower, but there's a lightness to the touch and to the feel of it. It is really, I think, one of the best. Both the RX-8 and the Miata are the best-balanced cars in the world. They just seem to fit exactly right. I think many experts will tell you, and I think this is something not many super car owners will admit, but I will admit, I think the Mazda's got the best gearbox of almost any car produced. It's extremely short, you never miss a gear. It's extremely predictable. Click click click. Click click click. And the fact that you use it a lot makes it enjoyable. You feel connected to the car.

I heard he was given the 8 by Mazda, as a thank you for some comparison test where that he participated in and said the 8 was the best car in the test, and all sorts of other acclaim. Still, he kept it!
The Miata he has belongs to his late brother I understand, with a Jackson Racing S/C.
I love and envy his collection of both cars AND bikes. All the gigs he plays outside of the tonight show is car/bike money...not bad eh? Considering he really isn't that funny!

I think Jay Leno is funny, heck I use to really dislike Mr. O'Brian but I've warmed up to him a bit with his Chuck Norris stuff, lol.
Mr. Leno probably get's ragged on a bit because he took over for Jonny Carson, but I've seen his shows every now and then and I think he is funny.

Funny, I saw a recent Leno episode where he talked about it on the show! The one guy (forgot his name) that's always sitting in the audience mentioned his car in the parking spot. Appearantly, he claimed the RX-8 was his "rain car". Anyone else see this episode? Funny stuff!
Leno is serious when it comes to cars, if he has an RX-8, that's a good sign! :D

Billy Crystal made the comment that he asked the lot security about the Jay's Mazda that day and the security guy said it was Jay's 'rain car'.
Jay didn't buy the car......it was given to him by Mazda.

You never know, he could be lurking around these forums. I hear tell that celebrities love these places and even online games. Because they can come in with no-one knowing who they are and people treat them like "commoners". Have conversations, without their celebrity profile getting in the way.
