it's been a long time since i rock and rolled (Cosworth STI)

Following a string of teasers, details and photos of the Cosworth Impreza STi CS400 have been released. As the name suggests, the car is a result of a collaboration between Subaru and Cosworth. It is based on the Subaru STi hatch which, in standard form, makes 304 bhp (227 kW / 309 PS). Cosworth has seen to it that this figure does not stay as is.

A look at the styling changes reveals a new front bumper, mesh grille, foglights and a new rear spoiler. Wheels are a set of new 18-inch alloys. Exterior paintwork comes in a choice of silver, dark grey or red. The interior features new Recaro front seats, a piano black centre console and privacy glass.

Maximum power from the 2.5-litre turbo unit has been increased to 395 bhp (295 kW / 400 PS) while torque goes up to 540Nm (398 lb-ft). Its 0 - 62mph time is now 3.7 seconds and top speed is a limited 250km/h (155mph).

Among the improvements listed are new pistons, connecting rods, a redesigned head gasket and a new turbo with a new compressor design and wastegate actuator. The maximize performance of the new hardware, the ECU was tweaked as well.

Suspension has been lowered by 10mm while the front brakes featuring AP Racing discs measure 355mm. The track is 12mm wider.

Only 75 units of the Cosworth Impreza STi CS400 are being manufactured exclusively for the UK market. Pricing starts at £49,995 (US$71,700/ €58,300).

i like how this looks. the bottom of the front fascia is pretty bland though (fog light area). doesn't flow with the headlights/grille. and those wheels are drab, boring, lame, etc. impressive power tho!

Nice looking car overall, though I don't know if I'd be able to justify the costs of it. I think I'd much rather pick up an STi and do my own build or get a different car for that price range. As far as the current gens go, I prefer the evo anyways.

Heh.. I see they fixed the FAIL that is the current Subaru engine. No more shitty powdered metal rods, pistons and rings. Still no sodium filled exhaust valves like past STI engines...

But hey, maybe THIS version of this STI will actually be faster than the WRX.
