Interesting New Gingerbread Double Din Stereo

Not sure why they say that double din has been abandoned... regardless, this is an interesting little device.

The 2din is dead... think about the rx8. You don't have 2 din panel
Many older cars featured it as a standard

but the standard isn't dead .... the rx8 still uses a 2din standard that is "hidden" by the centerpiece. Having the metra kit exposes the double din slot. The actual rx8 stereo is infact a double din stereo.

I know but you need an adapter kit for it to be replaceable. Many newer cars don't even have real 2 din systems.
As a standard it is alive but potentially dying!

Right I gotcha, it isn't a plug and play standard anymore

Matt;

Thats a pretty sweet deck, but i can't stand the look of a double din center console with a single din + a cubby or something. Doesn't look like Parrot makes a double din version.

One thing I noticed about this unit is that it still uses a resistive touchscreen. I would've loved to have a capacitive, but then someone pointed out the problem with gloves.

Still, I'm very interested in it, specially because I would love to build my own apps into it. Maybe it will show up at CES next year??

That reminds me, I need to get a 2DIN center console panel before they stop being available. Who is it that sells those, again? I had the link but I lost it.
