Chains, whip, a yo-yo, a case of Captian Morgan, one night with Jessica Alba, a nasty hang-over the next day. That's what I would do with 60 grand.

Oh yea, don't forget about a bus pass to get around becasue I won't have a car.

A gently used E39 M5 in Imola Red, and any leftover for modifications or the E46 M3 with the new Competition package...lovely.

I would get an AE86, xB, FC, SE3P, and have money for gas.

with 61k+ You would only get a used Viper... I could have bought something in the 60k range, but nothing really screams out "Unique Bling" here in So Cali in the 60k range. Go up a bit more... in the 100k+ range. Ferrari Modena!

I went to a client's house in Laguna Beach, check this out... he had 2 Ferraris, 1 Porsche Turbo, and a Range Rover in the garage... top it off, he had a mini Gas Station next to his 3 bedroom 2 bath "Guest House"... Uhh... I'm not making enough money dang it!

I think I'd look at the Vette, M3 and SLK 55 but there's a really good chance I'd still find myself sitting in the 8. I mean, it's an unpretentious sports car with a back seat. How can you do better?

I'm thinking....M3...or something else which seats 4. Perhaps the next Mustang Cobra? oh! Late model M5. That's probably it.

Uh... Let's run through this DMP... fully loaded RX8 = 30-31K.

Multiply that by 2 and you get??? 60-62K.

It might be a bit of a stretch but I'm pretty sure I could get those cars (S4 cabrio and 545i) for around that. And if they're over by a bit, oh well, don't be a ninny! :D JK

Yep, although I would buy a new M5 and sell a BUNCH of stuff to pay the extra 10K.......

If I had twice the money I would keep my eight as my daily driver and get an FD and spend $10k to make it a weekend/autocross/track car.
sounds good to me.

eh, I'd either play with my 8 and buy another one for daily driving, or buy a vette and spend the leftovers on tricking it out a bit. too bad 60 grand won't get you a Foose car, or I'd be all over that.

I'd just completely build an 8. Or buy a used Ariel Atom 2.

I mentioned this in another thread but I went to eat once 10 miles away from where I live. I just went there and back. This isn't quite typical but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again. On my way there and back the following cars caught my eye: 2 M3s, 2 S4s, 1 Viper, 1 Ferrari, 2 STis. I'm sure there were more 50K plus cars but I don't particularly remember. This is in Orange County (Irvine).

People are just too goddamn rich here.

It's partly the money and partly the fact that a RWD car is practical given the climate. In the Midwest and East Coast, you'll see plenty of SUVs with $50K+ MSRPs but they don't turn your head as much. Those could easily be fast sedans and coupes if they wouldn't have to face 3 months of snow every year.

Expected retail price will be in the mid $80's so I guess it would be more like $20K extra. We are almost treading on the "What Would You Get If You Had 3X The Money Thread."

Retrospect. Is that OK with you? I don't browse the forum all day, every day so I occasionally look back at old threads that I found interesting enough to join.

I could afford a 60-80K (or more) car, but I really have no desire to SPEND that much on my car.

I like my Cobra.

hmm...Probably an M3--I still need the space of the back seat--otherwise it would be an SLK55 or C6 Vette. I really like the M45 and Jaguar S-Type R but I'm not quite ready to get into another sedan.

If I were to spend twice what our RX-8 cost, I could come pretty close to a brand new, redone Boxster S. A very fine car.

But then I would have to do without some other toy, or paying tuition for one of my kids, so that's why we didn't get a Boxster S. :D

Does bikes count? Cuz for some reason, I've always wanted a garage full of rice rockets, 7 or 8 of them. That, a bunch of helmats, a go-cart, and life insurance. NICE!! :D
