awesome car, but if I were to actually build a car it would be one of these:
http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/usa/
for less than 100k I'd be faster, handle better, and stop better than a Veryon, all with a motor I could buy parts for at PepBoys

Not sure the GTM is a true kit car. Factory Five Racing uses donar cars (mustangs for the cobra and vette for the gtm) to complete the drivetrain, rear suspension, interior and other stuff. You get a tube frame and the fiberglass body and a bunch of other stuff.
Other cars the offer:
Cobra Couple
Cobra

Not sure if we are saying the same thing or not. I thought most kit cars are built on the donor cars existing frame which is not the case with Factory Five. Check out the high quality frame you get with their Cobra kit. Same goes with the GTM car but it gets its donor parts from from 1997-2004 Vette.
Cobra Frame: Complete jig-welded original style 4” round tube frame. Includes all mounts ready to accept small block Ford and 1987-2004 Mustang running gear. Kit can be ordered to accept a wide variety of engines/suspensions.

I must say I like the look and better visibility that the GTM offers (+1 for having a rear window)
Also the GTM and Ultima GTR seem to weigh about the same. So, I sorta don't understand how one can be significantly different in straight line speeds.
Don't know if anyone can comment on that and compare cornering? The GTR has smaller doors and seems to have a smaller passenger compartment so maybe it is able to have a stiffer frame?
Damn it's fun to dream.

The one issue you will have with putting a rotary in the attack is that the engine sits in the car like an mr-2 or nsx. That mean you are going to need an adapter for an fwd transmission.
