I'm sure there are many that are switchers from the 8. Just as there are from the evo or STi. Those that bought the 8 for all out power realize other cars can beat it in a straight line. OMG. They are the ones that switch. The ones that bought the evo or sti that just loved that straight line power learn that the cheap looks and feel get old real quick.

That was my opinion and personal experience in my area.The R32 sold faster based on where I live. That I know is true. As a whole, it sure as hell seems that way, but who really knows. I do know that the R32 came out considerably later as an 04 model then the STI, and I was having a very difficult time finding one at the time I got my STI. When the dealers got the R32 in, it sold right away. I needed to make up my mind immediately if I wanted an R32, where as I could sit all day and toy with the dealers for an STI. The Vw dealership didn't even care if I bought it or not. I ran into the same problem with the S2k, so I guess it's alll about where you live. It made my decision easier to get the STI. I love all cars, and will only talk good things about them. I won't boost my own car anymore then I will a car I do not own. If I don't like a car, I simply will not tlak about it. You won't find many like me. :) |

Well from my experience you won't be disappointed. I didn't trade my 8 for an STi but purchased one before I decided to axe the 8 for a Titan. The wife drives the STi and I drive the Titan which is the only regret I have for trading my car, but since I make the payments on both she's pretty willing to let me drive it whenever I want.
I haven't missed the 8 for any reason other than navigation which I used maybe every other month. |

The dealer near me has 4 06 models there in four different colors. My opinion of it has changed, now that I have seen it in person. I think it's looks nicer then my 04. I swore I would not like it when looking at the pics, but once I saw it, I was wishing my front end looked like that. I'd look into an 06 if you do decide to get one. The new design is going to grow on people, and many bashers of the new style will become fanbois. The ones that think the STI is ugly, now, will always think it's ugly. :)

Hmm.. someone said that if "all out performance" is your goal, go with the STI? If all out performance is your goal, and you have that kind of money to spend, why not go with a car that is also comfortable and roomy. A GTO comes to mind. Bigger, faster engine, great gas mileage, and easily modified. If I lived somewhere where I didn't appreciate the RX-8's amazing handling characteristics, I'd definitely be going with something that was just insanely ballsy. An STI is quick, but that interior is junk, it's uncomfortable, and it's engine still has to wind to wring out the power. No, a GTO can't outhandle it, but obviously handling isn't your greatest concern if you don't appreciate the 8.
