my friend had an IS350, its pretty fast, but its feels more robust than my 8, anyways he wrecked it(my fault) going into a light pole at about 45 mph

and yes, it was my fault, I rode in front of his house on a bike, he swerved to avoid me

and I dont hate 350z, I hate idiotic drivers who DRIVES 350z, not all of them

Personally, I hate the 350Z's styling. That's just me though.... on the other hand, I use to own a G35 Coupe and I loved it!

Before settling on the RX 8 I looked seriously at the 350Z, partially at the wife's insistence. She's big into the Nissan camp.

I really liked the exterior styling, but the interior left me cold. Liked the shifter but hated the clutch. I liked the straight line acceleration - obviously. I hated the feel of the steering when making tight turns at speed.

At the end of the day the Z just struck me personally as a car that would become a bit exhausting and maybe a just a little tiresome when used as a daily driver once the novelty wore off. That said, it has a lot going for it and it's easy to see why it has a devoted following of its own.

If I were to get just a weekend car, I'd get the Z or the S2000...

I like 'em. I might be sporting one if it had a back seat that could fit two kids.

350z possesses nowhere near the fun factor of the S2000 (nor the 8, for that matter).

Considering most of us drive to work in a series of straight lines and testing a cars limits in turns on the streets is even more moronic than street racing I'd disagree. On a twisty mountain road maybe, but during the day to day grind I'll take the faster car that handles well over the slower car that handles a little better.

A series of straight lines? I guess if you break down any distance into a small enough measure, you can make even the tightest of curves nothing more than a series of straight lines.

I like the 350, i'd consider one as another weekend fun car, but they just feel cramped with flimsy/cheap plastic interior bits e.g. that central storage bin cover.

I don't care that they have no rear seats, but lack of bootspace is a killer. I'd live with no space for an exotic, not for a nissan.

You must've missed the part where I was responding to his "weekend car" choice. Besides that, driving boat-like or semi-GT cars gets old and stale even if curves encountered on a daily commute basis are at their minimal. The "feel" of a car is one of the most important factors in choosing one over another; and the Z, my friend, simply gets blown out of the water in this department by the 8.

Beaten in the feel department yes, blown out of the water, no. I'm sorry, but the 350Z isn't the ill handling boat that some of you like to make it out to be. Handling wise they're pretty damn close, feel wise the RX-8 is better but compared to most cars the 350Z still feels pretty good.

exactly. 350z's power advantage is more evident than rx8's handling advantage when you are driving day to day, even for sprited paces.

if anything the rx8 is more of a gt car that has a softer suspension trading body roll for comfort on rough surfaces.

they sure talk about the 350Z a lot here, but on their board they hardly ever talk about the rx8

Seriously, how do you drive on a daily basis that you are going to notice a significant power advange as between the Z and the 8? Do Z drivers sprint like madmen (or women) from light to light? Does a Z driver make it a point to zoom from zero to 40 when leaving the super market parking lot faster than an 8 could do it? I doubt it. Daily sprints to redline on the interstate on-ramp are limited by traffic and prudence rather than the car's power. The same is true once you get on the interstate. Most folks driving an RX8 aren't pushing it to its maximum limits during their daily drives. We'd all be in jail. Or making posts elsewhere on this website about how pissed we are that our dsc saved us from killing ourselves.

I suppose one instance where the Z's power advantage would be evident is where you can just plant your right foot to make a pass rather than having to make a downshift in certain situations, but if someone finds making a downshift to pass tedious that driver probably doesn't belong in a sports car. At the end of the day, it probably comes down to an individual's driving style as to whether they find the power or handling disparities more evident. I have no scientific basis, but I'd wager more folks who buy RX8's consider and test drive Z's before making their purchace than the other way around. If the power disparity outweighed the 8's handling edge and several other advantages, many of us would drive Z's instead.

My best friend and room mate has a pretty worked Z. While it definately feels faster the clunky shifts and heavy steering just arent my cup of tea. I do acknowledge that his steering feel could be in part to the heavy volks he has opposed to the RPF1s that i use.

In the Z defense, i love that he can move his car for 10 seconds and not have the fear of god in him that he is going to flood his engine and foul his plugs, also his AC is freezing even on the hottest days while mine is barely colder then the outside air.

guys the 350Z is not a bad car but the 8 has alot of things that the Z does not have. The 8 is more beautiful and has 4 seats. The 8 looks more cooler on the road.
