Add vertical doors, and hell even borrow a Ferrari V10 and it's still a freaking Hyundai. Nice car though. They need to rename the rest of their car line (the cool cars) like Toyota/Scion did.

Yeah...people won't buy a 30k Hyundai sports car....their reputation is still for making cheap cars.

It's still a Hyundai, and is perceived by others to be a "cheap car". Getting a Hyundai over 30K is like getting a Volkswagen Phaeton. Why would you pay 80k for a VW???

It's not a foreign market to Hyundai. Not anymore. 5 years ago it would have been. They sell the XG350 and Santa Fe for $27K now and the new Sonata (great looking car inside and out) is expected to be a bit more than the current one, and much closer to the Mazda6 in pricing but with more features (like Xenon and Nav) and more power.

Hyundai has been doing well. Quality is off and on. Some of their cars apparently still suffer from reliability issues, but other cars of theirs are pretty solid. They're definitely moving up in the automotive world. Before Hyundai used to be "buy because you can't afford anything else". Now Hyundai is "you have to consider them because they're pretty much as good and cheaper."
In a few years they might shed their "cheap" stigma completely. This car will be fine if there's performance, the looks stay edgy like it is now, and the price is reasonable.
I like the way it looks. I'm still wary about the Hyundai name but I'm starting to lose the distrust. I'd buy Hyundai over Kia for sure though.

I like it. I did see a picture of this awhile back and my first impression was a cross between a Dodge Magnum and a Crossfire (side view) If it turns out looking like that with the performence they claim, I might definitely consider if the price is right. As of now I am planning for the Mazdaspeed 8 to be my next car but I do worry that the price may be a little steep (near $40k?)

Stuck in a love triangle
I don't see the resemblance to the 350z here. To me it's somewhat RX-8ish with hints of a g35 coupe on the front and rear.
I really like it, especially in that color. It looks fierce from the front. And the hatch looks crazy.
