How loud should gears sound?

Ok, when I'm parked and I play with my manual shifter going from 1-2-3-4-5-6...should I be hearing thea gears actually setting in place? There's no grinding noise or anything. I just think the noise of metal moving within the transmission is loud. I don't really hear it when I'm actually driving, but I have noticed at times difficulty getting into 2nd gear. Should I be worried about my transmission fluid? Clutch fluid?
My clutch/brake fluid in the reservoir is at max. My car is only 1500 miles old, 2006 model. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

I love the "ker-chak" noise when I'm in a garage!

Also, it's fine.

Doesnt sound like anything to worry about. When there's no noise from engine/exhaust, yes, you can hear the mechanical linkage while changing between gear.

As long as you're not having problems while driving, you're fine. Without the engine running, you could have trouble getting into any gear. It's going to be hit or miss every time since nothing is spinning, not everything will be lining up.
I'm probably going to move this to a more appropriate forum, btw.

I believe it's bad for your synchros to change gears without having your car running. In other words, stop playing with your stick!

I'm pretty sure, how bad I don't know. I first heard about this when a mechanic claimed that they had to change synchros on a brand new car just because it was on display at autoshows. So take what I said with a grain of salt.

What if I accidentally take two grains because I don't notice the extra one sticking to my finger?

Then you'll be needing some new synchros by this time next week.

don't play with my stick!?

oops. I was playing with a Mazdaspeed 3's clutch at this one dealer. The car was already purchased, but the dealer had it for display for a few days before the guy who bought it was suppose to pick it up. Oooops, i hope i didn't mess his synchros. hehehe the name of the dealer will remain anonymous, just incase he's reading these boards.
