Uhh... Dillsrotary , have you ever drove a AMG Mercedes before? The power gets down to the ground without any problem. Flogging my buddies E55 AMG I cant attest that all his glorious 468HP/513Trq makes it to the ground without roasting the tires sitting in place.

And unlike the BMW M5 or the GT-R, you don't have to set it in launch mode to take off like a rocket. Only two steps are involved, mashed the gas peadal and hold on to the steering wheel for dear life!

The only one I had the pleasure in was a cls 63, and youre right it was very planted. I comment was gearing towards the crazy +600 hp (and +700 tq) cars that top gear, road and track, etc test drove.

But as i dont' have experience in anything else, I would have to change my statement.

Even the new m3 suffers on the turns because of its very high weight compared to the old e46.
By the way every mercedes starts rattling after a couple of years.. i hope that they increase overall build quality while making them lighter :D
Yeah, Lotus or the Colin Chapman principles of design/engineering go w/o saying. More recently Mazda has announced plans for dramatic steps to reduce weight and improve efficiency on all it's next-gen cars is what I was referring too.

Some good Chapman quotes:

"Simplicate, then add lightness."

"To add speed, add lightness."

"Any car which holds together for more than a race is
too heavy."

Ahhh...the CLS63, art on wheels.

Jrichter that man you quoted is a genius ! Brilliant! Bravo!
Now if manufactures would take his thoughts to heart...

There's a difference between needing a bit and being obsessed by it.
