Unhappy Hard starts

I am hoping I am not starting a repeat thread here....but I have been having recent issues with hard starts on my 04 8. Not the usual cold start issue....but after the car has warmed up and then shut down...such as refueling, or quick stop at a store for more beer. It is then that I have to crank it multiple times to get her to turn over. It got so bad that I have recently killed the battery. Now, even with new battery (all covered under warrenty) I am still having starting problem. If left for an hour or more after shut down...no problem..It just seems to be the quick start after shut down. Any one else with similar problems...any suggestions.

Edwin

I've heard talk of this before. Try searching the Issues/Problems section.

Try the following; put the key to the on position, and wait at least 30-45 seconds before cranking. You should NEVER immediately start cranking after you insert your key, or you're almost guaranteed to get a hard start. Your crank will be much more smooth and instantaneous if you leave the key at On for at least 30 seconds, or even if you still get a hard start, it'll kick in much faster.

The other way to guarantee a smooth instantaneous crank on your next start up is to do a rev shutdown. Rev your engine to at least 2000 RPMs, and then immediately kill the ignition. This sweeps out any leftover fuel that may be sitting in the combustion chambers, and makes the next start up much more effortless. This really isn't necessary if you're going to leave your car for more than 3 hours, but is highly recommended on hot days where you do short drives.

My problem was with most of my starts ... I required a new starter (after I tried other items that likely needed replacing anyway - plugs, coils, battery)
