Red face Hansa 23R / Mazda MX-5

Ok, I searched but didn't find anything on this so....
http://www.pistonheads.com/news/defa...?storyId=15618
Scroll down a little bit and this company is converting the mx-5 to renesis power.
And now I will go back into my hole to avoid the flak of a repost.

That would be correct. I think I can beat them in price by quite a bit too.

Yeah, sweet ride..nice..

I recall Mazda saying that you can't fit a RENESIS in the NC MX-5..

Its a lot of money to convert..

I don't know why they would say that. It's the most practical, straightforward swap I've ever seen.

The MX5 is fun to drive. With the Renesis in it, I just could not imagine how fun it would be.

I agree. With the transmission gear ratios corrected to match the different power curve and suspension & chassis tuned to match the altered weight profile, it would be a blast to drive. Otherwise, if it's just an engine transplant, it's another hackjob.

because they have a lot of pressure to built a rotary power mx-5 from factory, and they dont want to.

Hi,
I'm the owner of the company Hansa-Mobile in Germany.
Car with swapped engine is my own.
It's up and running well up to 160 mph.

the mx-5 is fun, but at high rpms the engine sounds like a lawn mower. it'd be exciting to see a renesis in there instead. love the sweet sound of the rotary.

Really? That must be a blast. I'd love to see a formal test.

Your car is beautiful by the way. Only a brilliant mind could have conceived this type of swap .

This is my dream!

Maybe when it comes time to sell the 8 I will be gutsy enough to go for it.

Cool ... I'm brilliant too ... ha ha ha ... but actually doing it, that's what I truly admire.

Kudos to you elisemk1. That sounds amazing, seems like a perfect marriage of car and engine.

Looks awesome. Great idea but one could supercharge or turbo a miata for a more economic hp increase and have $s left over.

FYI. A pic under the hood can be seen in the intial link.

A rotary miata isn't really a new idea...

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=197173

rather a Renesis Miata is an evolution of an old idea.

Another good miata engine swap thread from the other rotary forum...

Not to mention freight charges from Europe, duties, etc., etc.
