Hand Pump Oil Extractor thoughts...

I use a liquivac http://www.liquivac.com/ I like it better than the other because it is heavy abs plastic and the seals inside are all leather not plastic/rubber. The wont get brittle or leak with synthetics.

Just did my first oil change with the pump. Worked pretty well. About 1/2 way through, it started to get really airy, so I stopped, tightened screws, took tube out and put tube back in...and I was getting oil again. Not sure what happened there!

Hard drive magnets are awesome. They are bitch to pull and watch your fingers! I've have seen them rip skin off when someone was playing around with two of them. The magnets are really strong and you will surprised just how difficult they can be to pull apart. Best way is to slide them apart. This really goes for anything you put them on

Do you guys remove the HD magnet prior to draining/sucking or do you just leave it there?
I personally remove it, let the shavings get sucked up, then put the magnet back on.
BTW, it takes about 20 mins or more on mine to fully suck the oil. How long does it take for you?

I leave mine on. With 2 magnets, I have a feeling I can hold onto those shavings for yeaarrssss.
Also, it takes me 10 minutes or so before I start get get the 'bubbly oil', so then I pull it out, let things settle or something, shove the tube back in and pump again, get more oil. All in all, about 20 minutes is right.
